Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

I know, but i didn't have the time to keep up lately, so my driverpack test came late after you had it up allready so long.

So it's okay then, i use my latest "custom" one allready while you can make a final new one without the base drivers.
Besides that, it can explain why there were so many trouble in the past!

I'm sorry it didn't work out as good as we hoped for, but it was my pleasure to help you guys out. I was willing to donate in the past allready, but i don't have paypall and don't intend to use it in the near future. So the least thing i could do was this.

Jaak, you know my email adress and my hardware, feel free to mail me and ask somthing to put to the test.

Case closed i guess, Happy christmas to all !!

You guys rock!

Thank you ALL fore the help! cheers!

Merry Christmas

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hi

can any of you edit the INI, and switch the sections?

One can also move INI sections around, see..
The INI sections make drivers load in TXTmode in the order they are in he INI.
This INI section shuffle has worked in the past.

In old packs, you could see comment lines in INI where all silicon RAID were put below the non-raid.
I had done that to make a massive move of silicon RAID sections possible.
They was all together, and one could easily put them in the order you wanted.
Loading RAID after NON-raid was done many months ago.
And later on, when I added new sections, I made a RAID version load after Non-raid.
They was no longer all together.

Now, SFX minipacks is something I want to rid us off.
There were people who would not find a section, so they pasted a SFX minipack section in when they where supposed to REPLACE a section. (They did not use something as simple as txt search.)

I thought debugger's tagging made it possible to have them in any sort of sequence..
Of course, there is always someting like SillY 3112 to prove me wrong, eh?

Anyway..
You can move [S4]  below [S5].

I want to get people savvy to some of these tricks.
Rightclick the pack, Un7zip to folder, open folder, then open the INI, move the [S4] section below [S5], save INI.
Then select the INI and D folder, Rightclick and run 7zip to pack it up.
It will show the PACK's name, and you better give it higher version number (7128, if you had 7127).

Then copy the edited pack in the folder you use for slipstreaming.
Then test the build you make with the edited pack.

You  don't have to run full setup to see whether txtmode DETECTED the hard drive.
When it detected the drive, you can bail out, or go ahead and do full setup.

Full setup would tell you about PnP issues.

When I reread all this, it still looks as if some variants of Sil 3112 were/are causing a BSOD at different stages.. This depends on the mode this 3112 chip is set to, most likely.

The mode for the chip is selected in BIOS, and moving the INI section load order for the different modi of that chip can make a difference.

If you try one of those techniques, report back..
Help us help you..

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Why don't you think about these things sooner..!!  big_smile
(I allready wondered why AD9 came after S)

Solution: MassStorage,Current release v.7.12, moved all of the S4 sections to the very end of the ini file.

and again: Voila, it works as if.. it works!!
Well done Jaak, good thinking!

Now, can you make me a nightly with again the normal updated driver in section S4 and only the S4/S5 sections.
I mean without those S4a/b/c, S5a/b/c

Ill hope to see it soon and test it, after that you (maybe) can make a [SOLVED] in front of this thread.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Jeesh
Thanks

I had just built a 7128 with the shuffled INI, (also a shuffle for VIA (where [V] was put below [V4] ) and with an updated Jmicron and an updated proliant server driver.

I can just as well reupload a pack with a shuffled Sil3112 with the latest 3112 in it

Well,
it was not all in vain..
We did learn that the 3112 driver for new bios works on OLD bios.

And you, you learned some very useful things.

(i never learn, bounce my head over and over again at the same piece of wood on top of my stairs..)
And the best thing: you slimmed it down again!!

Let me know when i can do a final test for you, i'm ready to make a new full install cd, so i need it in real life now!

If the current Intel SATA/Storage Manager drivers are in the nightlies, I can test that too over the weekend.  I have a new mobo to get into service.

Nope, still a problem, but now during install: The file hpcisss2.sys could not be found.
Only choice now is restart after faillure.

you must fix it again! smile

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

HpCISSs2.sys or hpcisss2.sys...

that's the strangest thing with some of those.
The filenames should not be case sensitive, and sometimes they behave that way.

BIG question,
Did you turn QSC ON?

I ran 8 trials with this updated driver, and nothing I do fixes the case sensitivity issue we have here.

I'll postpone that update, and put a working file in the air.
the silicon solution should be released.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

replace C2 section with C2 from older pack, and put the C2 files from older pack in the newest one you have tested, and it runs fine..

you can do your install with that.

You know, I just saw that the first post mentions load order.
I think we got a better pack because we had a blind spot for that fix.
It was work, it was frustrating, and we all came out for the better because we learned.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

BSOD 0x000000007B with Silicon Image 3112 in non-RAID configuration with a single Maxtor 6V300F0 HDD and DriverPack MassStorage 8.01

My Sil 3112 BIOS is 4.2.47

Something must've fu*ked up along these versions...

7.12.1 (28 Dec 2007)
Changed
- Silicon 3112 files worked on older BIOSes, so it was changed. (BAM & usficcient helped)
...

7.11 (27 Nov 2007)
Changed
- New folder structure
Fixed
- More SiLicon Image drivers for more Bios versions

As it was working before that.

update:
I successfully flashed my Sil BIOS as explained here:
http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/tutoria … 63394.html
But no go! BSOD still appears.

edit2:
The SI3112.sys file that is found in the DRIVERS folder is the correct one ver. 1.3.68.0 from DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_801\D\M\S4

edit3
I found my old drivers that I used when I tried Vista and they are the RAID ones (Si3112r.sys). I tried the latest from Silicon Image website but again - same BSOD. I simply deleted Si3112.sys and copied Si3112r.sys to DRIVERS and the .inf file to INF.

I am out of options currently so any advice on how to disable what driver is actually loading and enable my drivers in its place will be much appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. I did all this without starting Setup again but rather with the idea of resuming it as it had already copied the windows files and drivers to the harddrive and is at the stage right after the first reboot.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hi

since we did not use MODE tags, this is expected.

I had to make a choice in the load order, and assumed RAID mode would be default in most machines.
You can change the controller mode settings in BIOS..
Or, you can unpack Mass storage, and move the [S4] section below [S5] section

And then repack mass storage along with the changed INI.

OR, you can replace the two sections with this (they are MODE tagged), and test this.
(I would be most interested to find out about THIS one...)
Now... If this will not work, and you do not want to change the BIOS setting, then we have to teach the users that they can move INI sections.

These are the mode tagged sections you could try
