Topic: [SOLVED]multiple choice?

In order to fit on a slipstream CD I'm trying to delete the unnecessary drivers. However I'm not sure which ones I need for my PC's. Both devices (stated by Everest) and drivers seem to give me multiple choices:

1. MB MSI-6337 --> SigmaTel STAC9721/23@Intel 82801BA ICH2 - AC'97: S and/or chipset I\xp?;
2. MB Compaq 06C4 --> SoundMAX AD1885@Intel 82801AA - AC'97: SM\IN and/or SM\Z\1-4 and/or chipset I\xp?;
3. MB MSI-6701 --> Realtek ALC650@SiS 7012 Audio Device: R\1 and/or SI\1?;
4. TerraTec SiXPack 5.1 Audio Accelerator: T\3 or T\4 or not provided?

Can someone help me out?

Re: [SOLVED]multiple choice?

Kees030, why would you want to delete unnecessary drivers? Then you should not be using the DriverPacks in the first place: their exact goal is to provide hassle-free driver support for as many different pieces of hardware as possible...

In forum "Other » Looking for a good DriverPacks Tutorial..." I've explained the WinXPsp2 directory takes 453 MB (after deleting LANG, WINNTUPG, WIN9XMIG and WIN9XUPG). Including add-ons and the driver packs  won't fit on a CD. DVD is not an option, because only two PC's have one.

For the other options I mentioned there I'm in lack of knowledge and can't find the solution on the forum. I'd preffer to install from USB hard disk or network, since size doesn't matter there wink However, I can't figure out how to do it.

Re: [SOLVED]multiple choice?

I run nLite RyanVM and full driverpacks install and it weighs in at 700meg and fits perfectly on a cd
So I think you are adding something else too? or not deleteing something?

but... looks like you use nvidia graphics so you could not select Graphics B and save 50 meg
and you dont have wireless lan either so you could not select that for a savings of another 20.
Realtek sound is in pack A so you could kill Sound B and save another 45.

again im more interedted in why it doesnt fit when it should fit perfect

Thats why they invented the DVD........

I skipped that one since USB hard disk was also invented ......it's writing and reading is faster and easier. I'd rather find a method using USB hard disk than buying (or swapping) DVD-ROM devices roll

Since I didn't find that method (yet??) I gave the -IMOH- second best option a shot: removing drivers for devices that aren't in my PC's, in order to be able to install all 7 from CD-ROM hmm

Re: [SOLVED]multiple choice?

I dunno, back when I was using CDs, I was able to shrink them down to ~700MB and fit all DriverPacks on it, all the recent XP updates with an Update Pack and some other stuff.

You just have to remove more of the original source.
Stuff like .NET, WMP, help files, the update ability etc can be removed.
In the case of .NET, I was integrating a newer version anyway making the included one obsolete.

Also, if you use Nero, you can enable short leadout which will gain you another 12MB on the disc.
You can also try to overburn for some added MBs.

Just don't touch the 3rdPDPs, as that will make it too large.
Esp. the printer packs are huge!

Re: [SOLVED]multiple choice?

You can always install from network also, then you dont even need usb drives wich are slower then the network wink

Re: [SOLVED]multiple choice?

muiz3, that's great; no need to remove drivers. Can you tell (or link to) how to do that from a fresh formatted PC?
