Topic: Conexant Sound and Modem drivers issue BASE 7.01.6

Hi,

I'm new here... Since this is my first post I'll start out nice by saying THANKS to you guys for undertaking such a massive project, and I think you've done an awesome job so far.

Now I've had a couple of issues with my first go at running a slipstreamed install. I ran it on a HP Compaq nx6125 laptop. Not bad considering that everything else went smoothly - WLAN, LAN, touchpad, graphics, USB etc all good. I'm just going to chuck them up here in hopes it helps you to make your driverpacks better! There were two problems with Conexant drivers:

1. Modem. No driver installed. It is a Conexant "SoftV.92 Data Fax modem with SoftCP Properties". Hardware ID shows as "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4378&SUBSYS308B103C&REV_02" if that helps. This is the one I'm most concerned with as some locations where this install disc will be used will be remote, with dialup as the only connection available to the internet.

2. Sound. It tried to install Realtek AC97 instead and this doesn't work. It's supposed to be Conexant AMC. I noted a couple of other topics from last year with the same problem but they were closed so I thought I'd chuck it in here again.

3. "Mass storage controller". It appears this is the built-in card reader on the laptop as that isn't working (does nothing when I put in an SD card). On the working install (I happen to have two of the same laptops here, bought in the same batch and everything) in device manager it shows up as device category "PCMCIA and Flash memory devices" and the device is named "Texas Instruments PCIxx2 Integrated FlashMedia Controller". It appears the card reader is one of those things that needs several drivers installed; PCMCIA cardbus controller was installed ok (it has a couple of PCMCIA slots as well), "Secure Digital host controllers" was also installed ok but it needs that flashmedia controller as well to work.

I'm using all the latest versions of the driverpacks, I do the update check every time I slipstream them.

Thanks again!

Re: Conexant Sound and Modem drivers issue BASE 7.01.6

Hi James, welcome

1. For modem drivers this is the wrong place you might want to look here :
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewforum.php?id=13

2. The Realtek ac97 driver does work, if its another one then please post your HWIDS.
You can do this with this prog. :
http://www.driverpacks.net/Downloads/save_hwids.exe

3. Masstorage is not the same as a cardreader, for cardreaders i also must send you here :

Re: Conexant Sound and Modem drivers issue BASE 7.01.6

I have a modem driver thats not signed so it requires you patch windows file protection in order for it to install

Re: Conexant Sound and Modem drivers issue BASE 7.01.6

Hi
welcome to driverpacks net

a sound issue can be caused by missing modem driver
There is a modem driver pack in third party, but you did not use it.

the top stickied post in third party drivers forum (the forum Muiz showed you) has all the links to the 3rd party packs. (it is called all packs repacked.)
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=587

I just looked wether the modem HWID is supported in the current pack, and found that its subsys information is NOT supported, so we will need the compaq driver, and a "formal" request topic with the driver in it is the way that makes it easy for us to keep track.

I would suggest you start a new topic in third party packs forum,
the opening post has good info, so you can reuse it
you should, however, also add the output from saveHWIDs

you can add the link to the driver you need.
that way, we do not have to search for the compaq softpaq

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

I already gave him the links JT

Re: Conexant Sound and Modem drivers issue BASE 7.01.6

thanks guys! big_smile

have done a 3rd party driverpack with these 3 drivers, will be testing this shortly.

Here's the hwids for the 3 devices and all the other PCI-related guff your hwids.exe threw up, hope they help.

Re: Conexant Sound and Modem drivers issue BASE 7.01.6

@ricktendo: huh? DSPDsblr.exe (Driver Signing Policy Disabler) should force Windows to happily install any driver, signed or unsigned. If you can reproduce this, please submit it to the bugtracker.

Re: Conexant Sound and Modem drivers issue BASE 7.01.6

Im talking about 6.XX versions... Ive been using the SFC patch ever since I figured out it speeds up Windows Install and ever since my modem driver has been installed with no probs

Before it installed but not all the features were present (it was not v92 compatible)

Re: Conexant Sound and Modem drivers issue BASE 7.01.6

Hi, I'm new here, I just wanted to give an update on this issue.

I had the "Mass Storage Controller" device, I solved by downloading 'DP_Misc_wnt5_x86-32_7095.7z' file and found the right controller in folder 'D\3\X\T\'.

Helpful hint: try looking for *.inf files with a partial hardware ID, my ID for this device is:
'PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_8033&SUBSYS_308B103C&REV_00\4&1C88B56&0&23A4', so I looked for 'PCI\VEN_104' and I got 2 hits, from which one of them was the right one.

Hint 2: in the properties window of the divice, go to details tab, the 2nd option of the pooldown menu are the short versions of the hardware ID, to look for them in *.inf files. The 3rd option are compatibles hardware ID that also can be used as short versions of the main hardware ID.

Good luck big_smile

I'm happy with my device correctly installed big_smile *does the happy dance*

Almost forgot, thx so much for the driver, this wasn't in HP web site and I downloaded ALL drivers for this Notebook (HP Compaq nx6125).
