Topic: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

Hello !

First question in this section smile
Simple question : where is now the script called "copy_sys_files_to_temp.cmd" that was used to copy the files necessary to make a multiboot disk ?
Is there a new solution now ?

Thanks for your long time work, you must be one of the most famous in the unattended world !

Bashrat is one of the most famous... at least in my book! wink

Hopefully I'll be on that list someday too. big_smile
Me and Bashrat have had our programs reviewed in one UK mag together. wink
The latest mag the RVM Integrator will apear in is July/2006 pg 98-99 CPU Magazine (USA).

So our 15 mins of fame is upon us! lol!

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

No more spamming, Siginet! mad :lol

ontopic:
Well, inhib, as you may have noticed, the DriverPacks BASE isn't built by batch files anymore... so no more dumb .cmd file to provide partial multiboot support. There IS built-in support for multiboot discs, but there's three big BUT's:

BUT #1: it's not yet integrated in the GUI! It will be after my exams. Please check the docs\reference.ini file for details on how to use multi-boot mode.

BUT #2: it's not yet verified to be working (lack of multiboot users to test it).

BUT #3: it's not yet available for the regular users. Only for those calling the application in API mode (so far only Siginet's PowerPacker uses the multi-boot mode).

So I'm afraid you'll have to patient for a while, until Siginet is finished or until I've implemented it (after my exams, after June 22). Sorry!

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

It's been kinda postponed due to my pinched nerve in my neck. sad
I just had a shot in my neck the other day.  It is supposed to trey to tone the pain down... but it hasn't helped yet.  It actually made it worse.  So I can't really stay on the computer very long at a time.  Hopefully my neck pain will ease down a bit in the next couple days and I will be able to code for the next powerpacker beta.  I've just been popping in here and there... but I'm only sitting at the computer for a few mins at a time. sad

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

I just released Windows XP PowerPacker v1.0 RC8 Beta4 which has support for the new DP_Base. smile

I did not use the built in multiboot features yet.

I'm gonna have to play around with it a bit and see exactly how your built in multiboot feature works.  Because just using regular disc mode may work the best for the way PowerPacker utalizes the DriverPacks.

BTW my neck is feeling much better since my last shot.  Hopefully that means it is healing without surgery. smile

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

i need multi-boot support also,por favor smile

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

hi

has anyone tested the new powerpacker with the new driverpacks/base? and had it working?

here is my post from the powerpacker forums:

hi...

finally got around to testing it today...

found a problem, it may be just me...

slipstreamed driverpacks using the latest base and latest driver packs as of today into a fresh xp source and tested. all good.

but when i use the mysettings.ini with powerpacker the driverpacks api thing comes up but it finishes up a little to quickly and there is no driverpack files (the 7z ones) copied to my multi folder.

anyone else come accross this or something similar.

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

There is full multibootDisc support (through the GUI) as of DriverPack Sound B 6.07 b3. Just wait for the final (should be released 31 July) wink.

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

Ok, we have 6.08 now.

Is there anybody having succesfuly process multiboot?

I was trying hard but no luck so far. 6.08 isn't self explanatory for multiboot.

I've created separate .ini settings file for each OS (all of them are WIN XP but different language or config)and I've put ithem on the list "Select the settings files"? After that pressing "slipstream" 6.08 got critical error "iThere are not yet any slipstream modules available for the selected platform!".
After placing on the list all my .ini files and selecting one of them forward button [>] leads to the screen showing Details for selected settings file - There's amost nothing! No OS, no DriverPacks method, no DriverPacks, and optional settings are empty! That leads to the critical error I've mentioned.
Nothing is working in multiboot.

Some short description how to do this properly would be welcome.

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

As I said, it's completely untested. Perhaps I should stress that more.

There weren't any beta testers for this installation platform, it seems to be a lot less popular than I had estimated.

It looks like you're doing it the correct way wink Please post your DPs_BASE.log, so I can fix this issue.

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

6.08.1 still without success on multiboot.
I've got AIO-DVD as a multiboot root and path to I386 looks like: F:\AIO-DVD\SETUP\WINXPPROENU\I386, so third level.
Is it important how deep are I386's subdirectories from multiboot root?

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

I am wondering about that to
And do i have to make a settings file for each OS to get it to work?
And what do i type in that file exactly?
i am getting the same error as jagod runing 6.08.1

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

1. Create a settings file for EACH OS in the multibootDisc. Select 'disc' as installation platform. That means: start the DriverPack Sound B, select the location, change the settings to what you need and then export the settings to a file. Name it whatever you like.
2. Start the DriverPack Sound B again, but this time select 'multibootDisc' as installation platform. Select the root of the multibootDisc as the location and add all settings files you've created.
3. Start the slipstream!

But this needs testing, as I've said several times. Based on your feedback I'll make the necessary changes and put a beta version in the Betas forum.

I did exactly as you describe i created 2 settings files using disc mode one for Pro and one for home then i started DriverPack Sound B again but this time i select       multibootDisc and when i get to select the settings files and add my files and klick next dpsp tells me no settings file selected and when i trie to slipstream i get the same critical error as jagod

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

Same error here, when I check the details for the "sub"ini-files in multiboot-mode the OS is detected as none. When I use the same ini-file in disc-mode the OS is correctly identified.

Re: [CLOSED] Multiboot question

Well, you must set it to 'disc' when you are creating the settings files. I'll clarify that in the GUI, it's indeed quite obscure the way it is now.

I do, both my sub-ini's work on there own, but if i check their details on the page after the ini-file selection the OS is detected as none.
