OK, I'll look into it when I get back to the UK.
Can you email me your DPsFnshr.log?

I have done many installs already since I have been testing so much and no longer have it but I am doing a few more today so I will get you a latest version... Thanks

I have spend the better part of the day continuing to test and learn more about the driver packs. I have been creating or updating some packs for my own use and knowledge and I took a stab at this one by trying a few things but it still doesn't work for me... can you tell me if I made any errors or if I am just too green still :-)

First I downloaded the "NF4-7 actual Driverpacks" for XP (32/64bit) as referenced here: http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/optimiz … 70968.html

I extracted the files and then read the info from the txtsetup.oem for both the SATA and SATA RAID folders

I created a folder called NV7 and copied the files in there

I modified the .ini file by creating a NV7 entry and adding a ms_count=0 to NV6:

[NV7]
ms_count=2
ms_1_deviceName="NVIDIA nForce 9300 SATA/AHCI"
ms_1_tag="nvgts"
ms_1_sysFile="nvgts.sys"
ms_1_hwids="\VEN_10DE&DEV_044D,\VEN_10DE&DEV_044E,\VEN_10DE&DEV_044F,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0554,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0555,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0556,\VEN_10DE&DEV_07F4,\VEN_10DE&DEV_07F5,\VEN_10DE&DEV_07F6,\VEN_10DE&DEV_07F7,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0768,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0AD5,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0AD4,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0AB9,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0AB8,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0BCC,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0BCD"
ms_1_isBusExtender=false
ms_1_exc_disableIfOS="w2k"
ms_2_deviceName="NVIDIA nForce 9300 RAID"
ms_2_tag="nvrd32"
ms_2_sysFile="nvrd32.sys"
ms_2_hwids="\VEN_10DE&DEV_0036,\VEN_10DE&DEV_003E,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0054,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0055,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0266,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0267,\VEN_10DE&DEV_037E,\VEN_10DE&DEV_037F,\VEN_10DE&DEV_036F,\VEN_10DE&DEV_03F6,\VEN_10DE&DEV_03F7,\VEN_10DE&DEV_03E7,\VEN_10DE&DEV_044C,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0558,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0559,\VEN_10DE&DEV_055A,\VEN_10DE&DEV_07F8,\VEN_10DE&DEV_07F9,\VEN_10DE&DEV_07FA,\VEN_10DE&DEV_07FB,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0AD9,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0AD8,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0ABD,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0ABC,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0BC4,\VEN_10DE&DEV_0BC5,SCSI\NVIDIA__Raid_Disk________,SCSI\__NVIDIA_______Raid_Disk,SCSI\NVIDIA__Raid_Disk_20_____,SCSI\__NVIDIA____Raid_Disk_20,*_NVRAIDBUS,*NVRAIDBUS,*NVRAID20"
ms_2_isBusExtender=true
ms_2_exc_disableIfOS="w2k"

I renamed the pack to DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_909r7 and compressed it.
Finally I added it to the BASE and then integrated... but still NG

If I have made any error in my procedures here I apologize...

I have used DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_910rc1 on an ASUS P5N7A-VM - NVIDIA GeForce 9300 / nForce 730i... the video driver installs perfectly but the PhysX doesn't install

Yes I know this will probably seem like a stupid question but I am trying to make sure I am doing things right on some problems I am having... since this pack only has AMD files in it am I right that I can exclude it from Intel installs?

This was already reported and we're working on a solution.  It's caused by an excessive path-length or file-count in the devpath reg entry.
To alleviate the problem, stick to only the main DriverPacks and one or two 3rd party DriverPacks maximum.  Any more and you'll trigger the failure.

I am still experimenting and testing so I have a question on this... am I correct that the use of less driverpacks whether main or 3rd party helps eliminate this problem? If that is accurate then if I know I have 10 identical systems I want to do or 1 system like this that is killing me can I just use the actual driver packs that apply to them and in essence make a working "custom" disk? I know thats not the goal here nor is it mine but I am looking for a work around for where I find myself.

Also what is the best way to actually determine what packs supply the actual required drivers... I am definitely struggling with that but I'm sure if just me.

mr_smartepants wrote:

PhysX won't install without being invoked by the Nvidia drivers.  Yours is going to be a tough nut to crack.

I'm realizing that now since I have already spent about a week on this and blew through a dozen or so disks lol...

The PhysX did actually install during one of my tests and I think it was the 1st original install that had the audio driver problem... I am running moire tests today and will continue to report back.

so you did discover a BUG... Well done!

if mass was not previously added then your results are valid... we need to tweek the mass storage pack...

I have tried quite a few additional installations and have managed to get most things to work with some suggestions from here but the SATA is one that still doesn't work at all so if their is anything I can do to help with a solution I would be glad to assist.

Based on your instructions I tried using the latest nightly packs minus the WLAN pack since this is a desktop... I only included the  DP_Graphics_A_PhysX_wnt5_x86-32_908.7z and DP_USB_wnt5_x86-32_80911.7z 3rd party packs.

The install did complete without the previous failures but the PhysX didn't seem to install... this has really been a tough install and I'm having a difficult time figuring out what the root cause of the problems are...

Overflow... Thanks... it is a real honor to contribute something back to  this awesome forum

This was already reported and we're working on a solution.  It's caused by an excessive path-length or file-count in the devpath reg entry.

You could try the latest Graphics DriverPacks release candidates (see main News page).  I've tried to shorten the path lengths for those DriverPacks.

Also, the Nvidia-based all-in-one boards need all the drivers to match.  So for example when we update DriverPack Chipset with the new drivers, DriverPack LAN, DriverPack Sound A, DriverPack Graphics A all need to be updated also to match. neutral

OK... that gives me something to try... will test now and report back...

OK the DP_Install_Tool.cmd from the same CD just finished and it did update some drivers but not all... the video and NIC are still not found

I have been doing some testing on a particular ASUS platform which has a Samsung - Display - SyncMaster 720N/731N attached. After the install MS Update shows a driver update for it from version 2.0.0.0 to version 3.0.0.0. I have tried to search for this with no luck and I'm not sure what info to send you on this one so this is what I have so far:

DISPLAY\SAM022B\5&3A7105F4&0&00000100&03&00

Driver Version Installed: 2.0.0.0 (from this pack)

MS Update shows:
Samsung - Display - SyncMaster 720N/731N
Date last published: 8/19/2008
Download size: 1.4 MB
Samsung Display software update released in March, 2007

When I installed it it showed Driver Version Installed: 3.0.0.0

UPDATE:

I used a driver backup tool to obtain the following info along with the driver files:

[Version]
signature="$CHICAGO$"
Class=Monitor
ClassGuid={4D36E96E-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Provider=%Samsung%
CatalogFile=SM720N.cat
DriverVer=03/28/2007,3.0

Ok... here is where I started to get myself crazy and I have tried this 4 or 5 times with the same results which have me totally confused:

Once again I started with 8.12.5 using the standard packs and the latest 3rd party packs but I replaced the Audio packs with DP_Sound_A_wnt5_x86-32_90902.7z and DP_Sound_B_wnt5_x86-32_90903.7z. I still installed this on IDE. Now nothing seems to install correctly... I don't understand why changing the Audio Drivers would cause everything to fail but I am still such a newbie with this that I'm not surprised I'm lost lol. I have the finisher log if that is of any help and I am trying to see if a 2nd step of running the DP_Install_Tool.cmd from the same CD will make any difference... I will report that back once it is finished.

I have been trying to do some methodical testing so I could report back accurate info to you because this is driving me nuts and I keep thinking maybe I am making my own mistakes so with that in mind I decided to re-download every driver pack fresh, even the base and just start over. I then re-created my source and performed clean slipstreams.

Once again I started with 8.12.5 using the standard packs and the latest 3rd party packs. Since I still have the Mass Storage problem this install is on IDE. Everything seems to work and install great with two exceptions: the Samsung Monitor driver version which I will post in the appropriate thread and the HD Audio which I will try the newest Audio driver pack in my next test.

it does not seem like your source was clean...

you may have also discovered a bug... Deleted \$OEM$\$1\*.ini. (did you have non DriverPacks related ini files there?)
that command may need to be updated to \$OEM$\$1\DriverPack_*.ini. Doh!

It seems (to me and to DriverPacks BASE) as though you are overwriting a source that had a Method 1 slipstream on it previously?

I have a file called 500_settings.ini which is actually a file from RogueSpears scriptpack that I use to automatically make adjustments to my page file based on available memory.

I do have a winnt.sif file

The cmdlines.txt and the ROE.exe previous versions that were deleted were a mistake on my part from a bunch or previous tests I made before writing in the forum... basically I accidentally left them in my $OEM$ folder that I copied to the directory for the driverpack integration... I can start another clean test just to be sure...

I should have checked further and tried that before posting...sorry...  since I am also testing the nightly for the Mass Storage on this board it is currently running an IDE install with DP_Sound_A_wnt5_x86-32_90902.7z  I will report back on that and will be happy to test anything else while I'm at it...

e

I have another post regarding the Mass Storage on this board but this is the only other item that seems to be a problem with this particular installation.

I have a brand new ASUS P5N7A-VM with an Intel Q8200 and 4 gig of memory. I am using a brand new XPSP3 source disk which I have used RyanVM to intergate post SP3 updates along with a few various programs (all of which I have been using for ages with the DP and having great success) I used BASE 8.12.5 with the standard driverpacks and the latest 3rd Party. The HDA Audio is not installing properly:

I have to admit that I'm sure this is something I'm doing wrong because lately I can't seem to get a single driverpack integration to fully work properly but I would appreciate any help I could get. I will keep this to a single reference board to see if I can make some sense here.

I have a Seagate SATA drive connected to an AHCI only port on the MB and it isn't being recognized. It does install when connected to an IDE emulation port

Sorry for the lack of follow-up on the problem but rigth at the time I was testing this work really kicked in heavy which included a few weeks of travel so it wasn't possible for me to address this. With that said I am going to try and do a set of installs on the same D630 and a new E6500 this weekend. I will report back my findings.

Slightly off topic: I have a client that uses lots of different model Dell laptops and desktops and I realized that I may be able to supply some decent feedback to the forum if I teach one of my guys to monitor the driverpack installs and run the HWID for any problem items he notices. I am working on this now and will hopefully start training him next week. I would very much like to give back to this forum for all the help you provide us.

Have you tried to install it manually? if not,  try it manually executing the .inf file not the setup file.

It runs perfect when I try manual install with apfiltr.inf... which just adds to my confusion

I just tried to create a 3rd party pack with the ALPS Touchpad driver for the D630 and it didn't work either... I obvioulsy don't know how to make a pack correctly lol... but I can't figure why none of the packs install this

I have tried from scratch and recreated the pack 2x but it doesn't work... am I doing something wrong? I can't get the ALPS to install with my pack or this pack...

Incidentally, I have two D630 notebooks at work that I need to re-image and neither have nvidia chipsets.  Odd neutral

The nvidia video is an upgrade option and out of 30 systems we have I have the only one with it... so what I have found is that with the exception of the ALPS pad which never installs on any of the numerous Dell laptops we have... the driver pack works for the D630 with just the intel video.

I decided to try a somewhat "juryrig" fix but I have now tried it 2x and it works perfect:

I copy nvhotkey.dll to D:\$OEM$\$$\System32 on my CD and I run a reg_nvcuvenc.dll.cmd during my runonceex... this simply makes sure that nvhotkey.dll is there during install and addresses the one other error that I found it the setupapi.log

I know this defeats the basic principal of a single standard disk for installs but until there is a real fix having a custom but working CD for the D630 model is fine with me.

Thanks for hanging in there with me... this is really stumping me...

When I use the Graphics A pack with the correction to the nvHotkey.dll inf entry I still get the nvHotkey.dll failure

When I use a pack I try and make myself I fail with a VGA new hardware found popup and a VGA display... also the NvCplSetupInt copy error.

Should I try a custom pack with your corrected inf from the pack?

If I use the drivers from a backup it doesn't even show nvHotkey.dll in the folder so how would it be installed?

If I use a custom pack do I still select the A pack to get the control panels to install?

I downloaded and installed the driver manually so I am stumped why it works that way and not our way

I am going to try and copy the nvHotkey.dll to the system32 folder and register it to see if everything else is OK and it is only a copy of the file issue
