I can't find the DP_SmartCardReader and DP_Input anymore. Have they been merged with some other pack?

rapidshare has some limitations. Could anyone upload them on a better hosting service like mediafire?

Radeon X1950 Pro recognized successfully on a dekstop with 808c.
Actually it appears twice, I don't know why (I have only one card):

+ Radeon X1950 Pro
+ Radeon X1950 Pro Secondary

DPBase integrations are successful for 99% of users.  You guys are the 1% with issues.

I must say that I didn't have any problem with the 2 desktop graphics cards I tested the drivers with, I had problems only with 4 mobile graphics cards.

I confirm that the code above was already present in my %XPsource%\i386\winnt.sif

The file can be found in your %XPsource%\i386\winnt.sif
If you use DPBase to integrate the DriverPacks, the file is created and edited for you. smile
If you use an unsupported method to integrate the DriverPacks, you're on your own.  sad
Nlite will make the file for you, but it won't add those entries by default.

This is exactly why we always recommend you integrate DriverPacks LAST, and just before building the ISO.

I have always integrated the DriverPacks last with DPBase. Do I have to add those entries you mentioned to the file created by DPBase?

Now we need to get samlab and krige to retest with driver-signing disabled in the winnt.sif file:

Where do I find that file? Can I do that with nLite or DriverPacks BASE or do I have to manually edit the file?

Does this operation have some contraindication or side effects?

Jaak, thanks for your kind words smile

Tested DP Graphics A 806G on a Acer 6920G laptop with a GeForce 9500M-GS: same problem like this.

Again, I used DP LAN 8.06C and got the device not recognized as showed in the following picture:

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/9049/20080630225509kx7.png

SamLab, where did you get the 806G? I see only the 806F in the nightlies folder.

Thank you Helmi for your kind reply smile

Well, you do not request additions to the 3rd party DriverPack, at least usually.
Instead, you add them yourself and share with the rest of us. Give and take so to speak.

How can I add them myself? I haven't write access to the 3rd Party DriverPacks folder.

Helmi wrote:

Ususally, any request is accepted if the driver is really not present already AND it is common HW (so no specifically, just made-for-you stuff).
A nice description of the device, HWIDs, the versions of the DriverPacks you already included that did not support it, maybe some log files, a proper link to the official non-beta driver hosted on the manufacturer's webspace and a polite post ususally greatly enhance your chances of acceptance, though big_smile

Quite reasonable. I modified all my requests accordingly. Maybe someone should write a sticky post on "how to make drivers requests" smile

Helmi wrote:

Other than that, you are of course always free to create your own personal 3rd party DriverPack (you dojn't even have to share it if you do not want to).

I do prefer to share: I hate to think that the time I wasted to solve a problem might be wasted by someone else who has the same problem.

Regarding creating my own pack, most of the times I manage to add drivers to my own pack following this nice tutorial, but sometimes I feel lost when the tutorial rules don't apply to the drivers I am dealing with. For example, I have these files of a driver which don't include an .inf file:

AUTORUN.INF
Autoswitch.exe
data1.cab
data1.hdr
dir.txt
dot.bmp
engine32.cab
Install.ini
Install6x.dll
KILLW16.EXE
layout.bin
setup.exe
setup.ibt
setup.ini
setup.inx
setup.isn
SMSetup.exe
Thumbs.db
VSSVER.SCC

The AUTORUN.INF contains only:

[Autorun]
Open=Autoswitch.exe
icon=setup.exe
label=Adapters

That's weird, I am pretty sure I used 8.06C and then I had to manually install the driver after the installation. I'll try again and let you know.

Well I'm stumped about the 8400/8600 mobile problem.
The only idea I have is that both abdou and krige are using non-english builds of XP and some of the registry settings in the nvidia .inf are coded for US english builds.

That's correct: I used an Italian build of XP both for the 8400 and 8600 because they were meant for users who don't speak English. I use the English build for myself, that I used for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600. I still have to test the 806D pack there.

Found the solution in an Italian forum! The device corrensponding to the HWID "ACPI\WEC1023" or "ACPI\WEC_1023" is a "Winbond HID CIR Receiver" (Infrared) and may be installed using this driver. This may be helpful to someone else who will use Google to find this device smile

Which one of the 3rd Party packs would be more suitable to include this kind of driver? "Input" I guess...

In general, when a driver is suited for the inclusion in a pack and when is not? I mean, I guess not all the requests are accepted... or maybe yes? If not, on what criteria they are accepted or denied?

Nice tool! Thanks again! Still the output of the program doesn't seem to give any more clue to me...

Tested DP Graphics A 806D on a laptop with a GeForce 8600M GT: problem still persists.

Thanks again OverFlow, for the explanation and for your patience; you must have been repeated those things thousands of times smile

The HWID of one of the not recognized devices is "ACPI/WEC_1023" but I haven't found anything regarding that using Google, except for a site in Russian which unfortunately I don't understand sad

Thanks OverFlow. Sorry, I didn't know I had to include them in my posts. Should I have to edit all my unresolved problems and requests and add them?

How do I get to the device driver (or brand and model) from the HWIDS?

Hello,

could you please add the "Sitecom Wireless LAN PCI card WL-171 V1.0.6.0" driver to the DP WLAN?

You can find a working driver here.
