Heh.  Mostly just venting.  The INI in my case seems to get overwritten on EXIT of DPs_BASE (even if I didn't hit slipstream).

I don't think I ever thought to check if the INI was still around BEFORE panicking and clicking "exit" so now I know, back up the file before I exit.

Unrelated, but where are the nightly builds these days?  The old URL I've been using has been down for a few weeks.  I've been running with DPs_BASE 100401 and it's been really solid, and I was checking to see if there might be another beta build.

If the directory that I pointed DPs_BASE to in the last run is gone, the DPs_BASE.ini file gets wiped out along with all my settings.

I've been using Driverpacks long enough that I generally remember to backup my config file, but today I didn't.

It's not a HUGE bug, but it's annoying sometimes.  The simplest fix is probably to make a backup (or 2, or 3) of the .ini file before overwriting it.

Actually I was using KTD for similar reasons (mainly because of one particular wireless LAN USB stick I have).  I think SAD will work fine for me though since it's more and more rare that I bother changing hardware once a machine is together, and if I DID I'd want the latest drivers anyway.

Disabling KTD did fix the problem.  I understand the limited value of KTD but why would it cause problems with the driver signing?

I'm getting hundred of driver signing popups when the DPSFinisher runs on first boot.  After that I continue to get driver signed errors when I install additional drivers (even drivers that never complained before).

Nothing is jumping out at me from the logs.  This seems to be new with 8.12.4, I've never had this before, and I can't think of any other significant changes I've made in my integration process.

I'm using NLite and I've tried Onepiece's all-in-one update pack, as well as RyanVM's latest update pack with IE7 and IE8 all with the same errors.  I also tried a fairly minimal driverpack integration (logs below) with just chipset/cpu/mass storage.

I haven't tried removing all my extra integration apps from NLite yet (that's next on the list) but nothing significant has changed since my last build without errors except DPs_BASE 8.12.4

I'm suddenly having the same issue with the latest DriverPacks BASE after a year of building using NLite and DriverPacks the same way with no problems.  Thanks for the tip on iertutil.dll, I'll have to look at my integration order and see if that's my problem too.

In my case it's extra annoying right now since driver signature checking stays broken after the install, so EVERY driver you install (even ones from Microsoft) report themselves as unsigned.

Just decompress with 7zip, delete folders you don't want, recompress with 7zip.

Cool!  I was hoping it was that easy, but I hadn't tried it yet.  Thanks for the tip, that will probably be all I need short-term.

I didn't look that closely at the new B->Business to see how much of the 90 megs is FireGL/Quadro related, so maybe it's a moot point anyway.  I was assuming it was 30-40 megs worth.

Much for the same reason I don't need the FireGL/Quadro drivers.  Many of the systems I install on are old and don't have a DVD drive...  Shocking I know smile  It's definitely getting hard to cram just the essentials on a CD, but I really liked have graphics drivers for 99% of the machines out-of-the-box.  I guess I can just remove graphics pack A since people tend to go grab drivers for those cards after they install anyway.

This also means that D->Derelict won't help me since old machines will want those.  I suppose I could also try splitting out the FireGL/Quadro drivers manually myself...  Or perhaps create two distros, one for old machines not including the graphics A and one for newer systems on DVD with everything.

Not that I can really complain smile  Before you guys came along this was all darned near impossible.  Now it's just a matter of a little juggling.  Poor me. smile

Love all the updates, and especially the new parser that generates the version output.  Very cool.

One (minor?) nit:  With the new pack structure I HAVE to include all 3 packs on my CDs and I'm out of space.. sad  I liked the old scheme where the high-end workstation-class graphics cards were isolated in their own pack.  So few home users have those things that I could just skip that pack.  Hard I know, but how about a Graphics Pack D???  ;-)

I used the RC1 Base with the normal released drivers and had no problems.

Might I make a small suggestion?  Now that you have 3 different install methods, how about an INI for each, and have the base.ini just say which was chosen last?

Instead of or in addition, it might be nice if it backed up your old file when you made changes (e.g. sad_20080930.ini).  If nothing changed between runs there's no point in making a backup.  Back before I was proficient with DP I would make a change and forget to backup my INI first, then forget what my old WORKING settings were.

Okay, that was 2 suggestions.  I love DriverPacks.  Keep up the amazing work folks!

I tried using KTD and selecting specific packs to keep (I usually just have it keep all of them).  During the DPFinisher I got several errors about missing directories.  I don't have any problems when I keep all the drivers.

Probably a faux pas, but any idea when an RC3 will be coming out?  smile
