Can I still use these driverpacks with the new 704 Base ?

I'm trying to make an integrated WinXP with add-ons and driver packs but can't get it on one CD. I was suggested to use RIS, however that's to complicated for me. The method from this thread looks promissing, except for the modifications needed and the method workaround. So I've been really looking forward to the near future wink

I can't find it in the newly released 704. When can we expect the native network installation support?

Thanks OverFlow. Which thread do you mean? (Search for RIS returns to many hits).

muiz3, that's great; no need to remove drivers. Can you tell (or link to) how to do that from a fresh formatted PC?

Thats why they invented the DVD........

I skipped that one since USB hard disk was also invented ......it's writing and reading is faster and easier. I'd rather find a method using USB hard disk than buying (or swapping) DVD-ROM devices roll

Since I didn't find that method (yet??) I gave the -IMOH- second best option a shot: removing drivers for devices that aren't in my PC's, in order to be able to install all 7 from CD-ROM hmm

Thanks jtdoom,

It's clear about unpacking in seperate folders. However I don't understand the INI-part. I found none in the driver packs. The only INI I could find is DPs_BASE.ini. I don't see references to folders. Could you please explain what I'm missing?

In forum "Other » Looking for a good DriverPacks Tutorial..." I've explained the WinXPsp2 directory takes 453 MB (after deleting LANG, WINNTUPG, WIN9XMIG and WIN9XUPG). Including add-ons and the driver packs  won't fit on a CD. DVD is not an option, because only two PC's have one.

For the other options I mentioned there I'm in lack of knowledge and can't find the solution on the forum. I'd preffer to install from USB hard disk or network, since size doesn't matter there wink However, I can't figure out how to do it.

Please forgive my ignorance; it's the first time I'm working with the driver pack.

1. Can I extract the different driver packs into one directory "Driver Packs" (with only one D subfolder and C, M, L, S, etc. subfolders) or do I have to extract each driver pack into its own subdirectory'("DP_Chipset_wnt5_x86-32_612" with D\C\... and "DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_7011" with D\M\... in it)?

2. After having deleted the subdirs of the drivers I don't need, do I have to 7zip the driver pack dir(s) -in accordance with the answer on my first question- and then run DPs_BASE or leave them extracted?

In order to fit on a slipstream CD I'm trying to delete the unnecessary drivers. However I'm not sure which ones I need for my PC's. Both devices (stated by Everest) and drivers seem to give me multiple choices:

1. MB MSI-6337 --> SigmaTel STAC9721/23@Intel 82801BA ICH2 - AC'97: S and/or chipset I\xp?;
2. MB Compaq 06C4 --> SoundMAX AD1885@Intel 82801AA - AC'97: SM\IN and/or SM\Z\1-4 and/or chipset I\xp?;
3. MB MSI-6701 --> Realtek ALC650@SiS 7012 Audio Device: R\1 and/or SI\1?;
4. TerraTec SiXPack 5.1 Audio Accelerator: T\3 or T\4 or not provided?

Can someone help me out?

Thanks for your fast answer. X appears to contain drivers for XGI.

Having unpacked driverpack graphics I found there's a X-directory with 1 and 2 as subdirs. X is not mentioned in the supported devices on the overview page.

Which devices are supported by X?

@ricktendo64: Thanks for the links; I will try it.

@jtdoom: got the idea from driverspack.net yikes (http://driverpacks.net/Tutorials//UWXP/ … sparen.htm). That's why it's quite confusing...

Hi,

I'm new to all this stuff. So far I only have slipstreamed SP2 into WinXP a year ago. Because of malware I have to reinstall three PC's at home (PIII-450 - PIV-253). Looking for a way to slipstream post-SP2 updates I found RVM Integrator and a link to DriverPacks. It seems a great way to save the trouble searching for actual drivers for a variety of hardware. I spent hours reading the forum to find out how to do this. At least one problem remaines:

Including all driverpacks takes 266MB (uncompressed). The WinXPsp2 directory takes 453 MB (after deleting LANG, WINNTUPG, WIN9XMIG and WIN9XUPG, yet add-ons excluded). This won't fit on a CD. I understood this can be solves in different ways:

-use DVD (no option, because only two PC's have one);
-put drivers on network (seems complicated);
-put drivers on a seperate CD (needs 3th party software and seems complicated);
-delete more from the WinXPsp2 directory (however, I haven't the knowledge what to -safely- delete furthermore);
-remove drivers I won't need, like SCSI, RAID (however, I can't figure out how to do this).
?perhaps put drivers on a USB harddisk (however, don't know how).

What is the best -simple- way to benefit from DriverPacks?
