Via has changed the way the SATAIDE (NON-RAID) and PATAIDE stuff is now installed. They are now separate drivers. They were, as best as I could tell, combined in older versions and Via RAID was separate. Now MiniIDE folder is the PATA side of things and SATAIDE folder is the SATA.
No, I don't get any yellow exclamations with pack as is but I have to run the hyperion512 after windows is reinstalled and finished to get the current setup correct.

At least I can throw out the floppy drive now if I want to using the pack and text-mode. big_smile

Thx for you alls hard work.

Well I just thought that these would be included so that the windows install would be correct in Device Manager without having to run the current Hyperion right after a windows reinstall.  I'll just have to remember to do that from now on. Thx for response.

So I'm assumming that this and future Via driver updates will not be implemented?

To jtdoom:      you might need to adjust your tutorial   to reflect the remove of the ?:\I386\WINNTUPG   folder. It's needed for the Windows Recovery Console on a winxp sp1a with sp2 slipstreamed.   The other *UPG can be removed but for some reason the WRC needs that folder. I'd figure I'd pass that along.   That folder has been needed on my end for some reason now for a long while so I've been including it since I need WRC.

Also contains V_RAID V5.50B and Via IDE Falcon Storage device driver V2.10a for your Mass storage pack.  There are also updated MiniIDE drivers too compared to Mass storage pack 7.05.  There are no more "Via PATA/SATA IDE drivers" any more; replaced by Via Falcon.

That's all I know right now.

Edit: Quote from Readme file

VIA Falcon IDE device driver package is a setup package for user to install VIA IDE controllers and it is composed of MiniIDE driver and SATAIDE driver both. MiniIDE driver is in charge of PATA controller. Oppositely SATAIDE driver manages SATA controller.

Hope that helps the confusion out.

Edit:2 the viamach.inf and agp inf were not updated so I guess this might need to be moved to the mass storage section.

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa … 67&P=3

History notes: The VIA IDE Flacon Storage Device driver, when it was in Beta stage, was named the VIA IDE Accelerator Driver. With the 2.10A release (May 2007) it incorporated the PATA/SATA IDE driver as well.

my hwids specific as of right now with that driver installed.
PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3149&SUBSYS_1413147B&REV_80\3&13C0B0C5&0&78: VIA Serial ATA Controller - 3149
PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_0571&SUBSYS_1413147B&REV_06\3&13C0B0C5&0&79: VIA Bus Master IDE Controller - 0571

I figured I let you all know this.

Holy heck.  Totally missed that folder (wasn't where it usually is in folder structure) but yeah you are right.  I wonder if that ';' was a mistake and just was copied/pasted into all the infs.

Hmm need to do some research then.

Edit:  strange, ALL the txtsetup.oem files in drvdisk folder and subfolders have that hwid; but ALL infs for ALL the OSs even Vista in dvrdisk folder have that HWID commented out.

Edit #2:   LMAO at this  http://www.google.com/search?hl=en& … tnG=Search   hehe, google for "PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_7353" returns with just this thread only.

Edit #3: I was able to enable my BIOS raid boot rom with no problems.   For my Abit KV8-Pro revision 1.1, south bridge being VT8237 (NOT VT8237A), the hwid is:
PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3149&SUBSYS_1413147B&REV_80\3&13C0B0C5&0&78: VIA SATA RAID Controller  which happens to be the same as this for non-raid on Falcon drivers which is PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3149&SUBSYS_1413147B&REV_80\3&13C0B0C5&0&78: VIA Serial ATA Controller - 3149 .

Edit #4:  Screw it then, just go ahead and add this to next pack.   It's Via's fault if that hwid does exist and the mass storage pack breaks.  It will not be you-all's fault.  Just gonna have to remember that hwid for any future troubleshooting.  Though it does like some new chipset number though if higher numbers= newer  chipset/PCI raid add-on controller naming scheme that maybe used at Via.  That maybe be something  uh.... coming soon to a theater near you. wink

Edit #5:  that hwid isn't even included in the hyperionpro chipset drivers that are up @ Via. only the 7372 is the highest one.   Hmm, I think my hutch is correct.  A new chipset/HD controller add-on card coming soon.  Just have to wait and see.

Might as well chime in also; same for me also.

One problem with this one is that there is no floppy disk version in the zip (which surprised the heck out of me).  I'm waiting until the Via chipset driver gets updated.  Per http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa … CatID=3170
Hopefully they will include the updated boot disk (F6) files for use in textmode Mass-storage.
Other-wise I think certain Via RAID users are somewhat screwed.  You'll would have to use the NT5\viamraid.sys version 5.1.2600.540  11/08/2006.  That's whats in the current DP mass storage right now.

Edit: that link above screwed me  so here is the quote from main page news archive

"Some of you may remember that the previous version of the V-RAID driver caused some rather funky audio and video playback issues on some systems - mainly systems running Windows Vista. v5.40a was the culprit and it was also unfortunately included in the Hyperion Pro drivers. Well, v5.50b are now on VIA Arena and there should be no more problems. They will be included in a release of the Hyperion Pro driver shortly. Until then, use the latest Hyperion Pro drivers but then also install the latest V-RAID package."

Ok I understand your point. It's just sounded at first as the same old excuse I keep hearing for not updating stuff from others.  I apologize for any uselessness on this.

I'll try to help if I can but this is my only machine so I can't waste time rebuilding an install every week. There is just too much that I use and do everyday.

ok then . The new driver works fine.  Well this project is no good to me if it's not kept up to date.

Think about it.  What the heck is the point of taking the time to slipstream old drivers   AND then having to install  new drivers on top of them after a windows install?  Isn't that wasting time and defeating the whole goal of this project?  <scratching my head in confusion>.  But hey it's your project.

Edit:    Why the heck are Via win98-ME driver files included in the current LAN pack???  Isn't the purpose of this project to create an Ultimate XP install disc???  So if there are wasted space taken up in Via  what are the others like now?   Guys/gals  space is premium on a 700 MB disc with all the addons from RyanVM.

Yes, I have an Abit KV8-Pro mainboard. I use the gigabit controller.

I just posted the topic to let you all know that they were updated.

Via Velocity version 3:
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa … bCatID=130

Rhine and others version 3.67:
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa … bCatID=124

My mistake   the optional settings only show up after you set the source location.  Please delete thread if desired.

Umm, sorry but if someone else mentioned this already, please merge this together if needed; but where the heck did the KTD  and other settings go in latest  Base?  I was about to burn a disc but noticed that KTD settings stuff was missing from the setup queue plus the cache thing too.  Now what do I do?   Was about to reinstall  xp.

Hey really need some info on this   because this WAS gonna be my re-install of xp   but now I'm stuck.   I do need the KTD.

I already scrapped old and re-installed ALL of the driverpack stuff    still same result!

What info do you all need?

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa … bCatID=130
for VIA Velocityâ„¢ VT6120, VT6122 Gigabit Ethernet Controllers

I think the Via Rhine series were also updated on the Windows-side of things. I only have the above-mentioned on mainboard.

Uh, what did I say wrong or evil?

I haven't yet slipstreamed any driver packs yet since they haven't got what I need yet, just yet; and I'm still learning all this out since Bashrat took a major break last year so I forgot about DriverPacks.  I have a single computer that can't risk a 'screwup'.

What else don't you believe???  Argg.  guess I better go lurk again.   Sorry to offend.  Cya'll later

Youch,  didn't mean to stir up a hornets' nest.  I was just asking since I'm anxiously waiting to create my first disc with RyanVM-etc addons  AND drivers so that I can get rid of floppy figuratively speaking.   Before I was just doing RyanVM stuff.

Sorry about that.

So will the Via PATA/SATA IDE 1.60A ever be implemented?   This is the driver for all NON-RAID SATA systems like mine when the SATA RAID Boot ROM is disabled in BIOS. Plus it has the PATA stuff too.  It treats the SATA HD as a Primary IDE device.  Don't ask me how though. Should this be in the chipset drivers section instead?

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa … bCatID=143
Link shows all three.

Didn't even know that the IDE was updated in November.

Edit nevermind about the falcon one  it's supposed to be merged into the PATA/SATA by the end of 2006 according to this:
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa … 67&P=4

Sorry I didn't even know that this had been updated to 1.60a back in November.
