hi Wim, et al

I never used wiki, I looked at it and I think I don't want to use wiki.

I rather even have to forget how to write BBQ.
I mean, there must be lots of users not used to VBB BOARDs
to me, it looks like WIKI would force me to use a lot of code tags.

dunno wether that's true.
I just veered away.

I have been doing some tinks, and we's on RC3 now.
still running avast in the builder machine.

gonna put AVG on (first uninstall avast, of course)
I want to see wether avg free still complains/blocks.

if it does; we users, we can write them a friendly word?

(I am Flemish, and have used "tinker" as description for aaages. So here is a puzzler, "what is a tinker?".

Is it a guy like Tinker Dill... or a smithweld? Or both?

hi

can beta test on a "erasable" system with drive trays.
I just about always have a test rig on hand, and can actually do this on quite a few windows versions thanks to that msdn package the mvp people were so nice to ship me...
There are some extra blanco drives to run tests on, so why not?
Will have a few days off soon.
I know I can learn a LOT more about this.

twee vliegen in een klap, als het ware.

hi again

Avast warned, so I chose "no action", and it let me run driverbase.

hi

I tried the two driver collection free tools, and noticed they do not include the CAT files in their backups.

On the other hand, tools like these can help you determine which driver set you want to select from the CDROM or out of the downloaded file you got from the manufactor.

It may be this is old news to all, but for floppy less machines, a floppy creating driver download can be opened in winimage.

Jaak, Eeklo.

(Hats off to this guy...)

Hi
this is just a note to confirm this behaviour by AVG-free.

this must be because of a recent update, because it did not do that a week or so ago (when I was building a couple RAID enabled booters.).

will see wether Avast  sees it as a danger in my other machine.
(where I did not yet use BASE it for that one is a x64 driven system).

Thanks for the driverpacks effort.
Before I found this site, I was trying to slip the drivers I needed into my anwerfiles all by myself,  to build me my own, so I know it took considerable time and effort to do this for us.

another note, I wanted it to boot with RAID support (my machines have two raid chips in them, and one of them is actually running two striped/mirrored raid arrays. The other has just a stripe)
More important to me, I had to able to get to the repair console after booting off the CD and see the drives.

With your tool and driverpacks, I managed to do that.
Then I posted how I did that...

Kind regards, Jaak

Just letting you guys know that my antivirus says that DriverPacks Base.exe is a virus... smile

I deleted ithe file and then redownloaded a new one thinking mine was infected and AVG said that the new one is also a virus.

Any other AVG Free users can confirm my report?

This is no biggie just letting you guys know.
