certain drivers must be initialized first before other dirvers...

that line affects the load order... with DriverPacks that particular line is not addressed...

cdob is trying to establish if a known issue with DriverPacks is related to your issue...
By deleteing that line you are in effect loading the driver the same way that the DriverPacks does...

If cdob is right then we must edit the hive to address your issue wink

Let's not delve into that mire unless we need too... By reporting your result to the simple test we will know if we need to go there... If we do then a more in depth explanation will be provided. If not then don't sweat it since it is an uncommon issue.

there are several posts about it if you are intent on learning... i think you can search the forum for  Parameters\PnpInterface,5,REG_DWORD,1 and find the related info wink

cdob is a master of mass storage... wink

I think that English may not be his primary language - but his experience and insight bridges the gap big_smile

If he belives something may help, I personaly would try it wink...

Thanks a million for reporting!

Excellent post Welcome.

Sure... One could even say that my Lake of Ability could OverFlow at anytime wink

I thought firewire was natively supported...

Yes you can use a multiboot disc and DriverPacks BASE does support a mutliboot disc... wink

since CD's are twenty cents a piece I will just make a CD intended only for repairs...
I have not repaired a Windows OS in years - the result is just a disaster.

If you think you must do a repair you're mistaken... a reload is definately in order if the OS is wasted that badly.

But there is always an exception to any rule smile wink

I don't know where Wim is going to take us... But I am sure it will be great!

The site is still in a developmental state ATM... So all comments and feedback are encoraged!!!!

I take that to mean you verified and redownloaded the pack as I suggested.

Which means NO you did not fix your own problem... wink

You have provided multple examples of your lack of ability, experience and intellegence.
Yet you can not admit:
You did not follow the given directions.
You did not read the documentation or rules / guidlines.
You did not follow the link to read before you post... even though it was provided multiple times.
You did not respond to any of the multiple requests for simple info.
You did not admit you did not verify the download.
You did not admit redownloading a corrupt pack was the fix.

We can even more clearly see you lack the self esteem and balls required to make such an admission.
We can also see that you are unable to solve even the simplest of issues on your own. (corrupt download)

Sorry about your users. Because they must suffer through with someone as lame as you as thier support. God help them.

(now that is insulting - to your users i mean)

PS I think it is crystal clear which one of us can not read simple words...

Nope they will appear in the list with all the main packs here http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks

Every time i ommit the Modem Pack i end up servicing a machine with a modem smile LOL

Please Search the forum for "Attended setup" Or "Repair", Take a look at Feature Requests... (this topic is sickied there too.)

This is documented in over 50 threads... and this is the second time asked this week.

Welcome to DriverPacks Lord Necron,

Wim has a great sense of humor...

All Nightly DriverPacks (what we call our alpha, beta and Release Candidate's) are reported as "Where did you get that?" tongue
That line has remained unchanged for years big_smile wink

It also has the effect of not offering an update for that pack wink

We do officialy support them... they are just not updated by mr_smartepants wink

they are just as safe and just as well tested big_smile -
They are just as well done as the main packs.
Some of them are done by main team members, others by experienced testers, some by the packs team.

Wim has given me the ability to add them to the main site...
Once we iron out a few wrinkles with the new Metadata format they will appear on the home page with the main packs...

Fear leads to the dark side young skywalker wink
So fear not...
give them a whirl...

All of the rest of us do! especially Monitor and MoDem. (and physx)

PS didn't you ever wonder what that silly folder was for in the BASE directory?

DriverPacks has a wide variety of user provided packs known as the 3rd party DriverPack's...

Modems, Monitors, Printers, Cell Phone, TVcapture cards, Blue Tooth, etc...

you should take a look http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewforum.php?id=13

summary here http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=587

Modem drivers here --> http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=3174

Be sure and drop by an thank Abdou, He updated it last!

you just need to be sure that the SP tag files exist @ Path\I386\..\ Or DriverPacks BASE will report no valid source found.

I belive windows setup will also fail if they are not there wink.

Thanks so much for keeping this post and your project updated...

You are our kiind of hero sir!

DriverPacks BASE will refuse to recognize it as a valid source wink

only files in the I386 are modified... correct...

files at the root like win51 are used to determine the version... correct

the faq is correct you need to copy the windows directory... even though we don't need all of it to be modified just the files in the I386 we do still need the files in the root for OS ID.

Look in the FAQ section of the forum wink or search for SAD big_smile

let us know what your results are with your tests

please respond to the existing topic / sticky

dont forget to do a normal install to use as a comparison. IE a 'control group'

Thanks and welcome (again) to DriverPacks...

found it LOL it was a sticky right above this post ROFL... DUH

Copy OEM folder contents to HD before "fake setup"?

I tried to find that thread yesterday... Its here please post a link to it here when you find it! LOL

if you can't find it i will reinvent the wheel for you wink the answer was simple and related to changing two lines in PRESETUP.CMD.

I was / am planning on adding it as a feature. For people just like you (and me and most of the rest of us) wink

The down side to this is severe disc fragmentation and the four or so Gig of space required on the target. In most cases this is not an issue but we try to design DriverPacks to work for all cases not just most of them wink.

Well extracting the drivers you need to a folder and running devpath on it is effective IF...
You keep in mind this will only work for simple devices,
Not for video cards or chipset or mass storage drivers, for those you must run SAD.
You only want to keep things like monitor, modem, USB and other simple drivers.

So you don't have to run SAD it is just better if you do because it will update all drivers.
BUT... SAD is useless if you leave it on the machine. Presumably all the MB and VID drivers are already loaded with the version on the machine tongue wink
SAD is most effective after a software first install or if you are a service / bench tech and want to update a machine being serviced. (On a CD or DVD or thumbdrive or or USB HDD or other removable media and last but not least as a network repository)

So truely you do not want or need all the drivers on the target...
just the ones that are likely to be plugged in post install wink

your users don't usually change out MotherBoards on you do they?

I am not a sysprep guru...

BUT it seems to me this is a HAL issue...

perhaps if your image was done in vmware in a single CPU environment...

Try useing offlinesysprep to set the HAL and make sure you have read galepo and our other gurus notes on mysysprep and HAL.
