with three gig, the swap file should not be a factor ...
Just trying to cover our bases...
you do this in the I386 folder of your source either before or after you add the mass storage drivers with DriverPacks BASE... (before you create the ISO)
directions provided by cdob in post # 4 of that thread
if the device does not have legacy support then you MUST add the registry entries to the Hive... (Thanks nvidia)
the signing popups are directly related to you selecting
KTD = "all"
KTD will cause driver signing popups... lots of them
they should be muted
Ah crap! we may need to create a third C DriverPacks to handle all the "end-of-life" devices.
Yeah I think that Sound C and making the Physx and language packs official is probably the next thing to be fixed for BASE... I have almost fixed the timeout issue on the update checker page and am kind of waiting on MD5 support on the server side before I "finish with that section of the code... BUT... i think it will be jsut as easy to add 3 packs as to add one... unfortuanately it is very difficult to add even one .
I was able to verify at least DP_Graphics_A_PhysX_wnt5_x86-32_906.7z
downloads from the http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks/latest
with a MD5 of 5A9AED435836D0D372C2475B4F6C3BED
and extracts with 7zip 4.32 (GUI) successfully...
perhaps it was just a glitch... waiting for your results from the second machine Internet connection sir...
thanks for the update, now with enough details to try it myself!
Welcome to DriverPacks
Let me know if I / we can help...
Jeff
PS 7zip can use huge amounts of ram
- how much ram in that first machine.... (swap file size?)
- were you extracting multiple files concurrently?
they look correct... that is without opening the pack...
make sure the tag name does not already exist... a tag name may only exist once...
Does "nvgts" already exist somewhere in mass? Also make sure the HWIDs do not already exist in another section .
which DriverPacks failed, Specificaly. Name/Version...
What was the MD5 hash on your failed file? Does it match the posted one for your download?
What version of 7zip did you use? ... GUI or Command line?
how did you download them (from DriverPacks BASE? or from our home page? or other?)
- perhaps a link to a specific one you are having trouble with
so we can try to duplicate your issue?
Please include GOOD details... "Read BEFORE you post" rule #6 (see my signature for link)
Now I know how my mechanic feels when I call him and say "IDK, it just won't start"
Um we get over a million downloads a week
Yours (this) is the only report of any issue at all...
No there is no workaround - since it is only affecting you... (Alone)
there would have been 10 or more posts in this thread by now if we had a corrupt pack on the server
(Since you did not tell us which ones, I am going to assume we are discussing the current main DriverPacks.)
-------
Edit - moved from "FeedBack and support DriverPacks BASE" to "other" since problem is not seemingly related to DriverPacks BASE in any way.
Make any changes you like with nLite... except removing, or adding, drivers.
After you are all done with nLite and you have no more changes to make.... then run DriverPacks BASE and slipstream the drivers...
I leave nLite open at the create ISO page while I add the DriverPacks...
When BASE is done then I hit the make ISO button in nLite
Base works fine with / on an nLite modified source, however the reverse is not true...
nLite is not capable of adding the DriverPacks successfully.
(The addition of a large number of drivers will invariably fail if you use nLite to add them.)
nLite can add single drivers. For example if you only need to add one set of drivers for a single personal machine.
beyond adding one or two drivers to a source nLite it is just not sophisticated enough to deal with the many conflicts that are created by lumping many similar drivers together into a single source.
If you could just dump a bunch of drivers in a folder then DriverPacks would not need to be here
And if you could use nLite to add them we would not bother providing DriverPacks BASE to add them
%systemroot%\setupapi.log will tell us what is going on...
it will be a HUGE file you can either snip sections that relate to your HWID
or you can spread it over several posts...
or you can link us to it on another host.
NEVER install DriverPacks useing nLite...
when you are done with the msfn tutorial perhaps you should read ours...
http://driverpacks.net/docs and also the link in my signature
(the next falcon four?)
what addon maker did you use?

I just looked at your log the reason you do not have OEM is because you used guirunonce instead of runonceex... you can do the same thing with guirunonce... Call the runonce.cmd from guirunonce
I also notice from your log. You have every version of every 3rd party DriverPack....

THAT WILL NOT WORK.
You can only use one of each type... (Hopefully the newest one of each)
I also notice that you do not have the language and physx versions that match your DriverPacks Graphics packs
Where did you get them all?
I am surprized it even worked at all
Simple answer
You must install vmware tools...
I do this from $OEM$\cmdlines.txt
[Commands]
"Runonceex.cmd"
$OEM$\Runonce.cmd is
REM The next line sets %drive% to the drive letter that Runonceex.cmd was run from (IE D:)
for /f "delims=: tokens=1" %%i in ("%~dp0") do SET drive=%%i:
REM Run vmware tools (IE D:\vmw\VMTools.msi)
"%drive%\vmw\VMTools.msi" /quiet /norestart
the .MSI command will fail silently if you are not installing in vmware so you can just leave it after you are done testing.
Muiz was working on the nightly server yesterday... he must have dropped the ball during the process.
You would have us ASSUME that the source machine was also the target ...
I don't think it's important right now to try a test install...
Although that would let us know of the issue were related to DPINST.exe specificaly. Sometimes the DriverPacks will install fine with setup.exe (Normal install), but fail at dpinst.exe (SAD). I would like for all the drivers to simply work with both but we have come to realize there are a few bugs with dpinst. So far we have been able to address them with tweaks.
Please do try the Release Candidates.
( Links for the downloads are on the DriverPacks Home Page )
Thanks again for reporting, It makes DriverPacks better for everyone!
Welcome to the forum!
PS I can see that your device is supported in DP_Sound_B_wnt5_x86-32_805 folder \D\S\SMD2
smwdmCH5.inf - DriverVer = 01/27/2005, 5.12.01.5246 - MFG. Analog Devices, Inc.
(It should have worked)
IF the RC DriverPacks don't work
then can you try installing that driver manualy and tell us if that works?
I also notice that there is a file SMax4PNP.exe in there does running this file manualy fix the problem?
you may be experiencing trouble due to the fact you are useing M1... did you also try M2?.
It will be a LOT faster, especialy if you only use the two sound packs to test...
Thanks for reporting
PS make sure SP3 is installed or at least KB888111 (I am going to ASSUME we are talking about one of the many versions of Win XP???) PLEASE always include your OS and servicepack level I almost wasn't going to mention "read before you post" since you had done such a good job with the HWID's and log! You even used code tags too!!!! thanks for making the effort!
so you did discover a BUG... Well done!
It would be my pleasure to honor you by inviting you to fill out a bug report at the bugtracker.
Very, very few people ever get the opportunity to do that .
if mass was not previously added then your results are valid... we need to tweek the mass storage pack...
Thanks for reporting!
With the mainstream being to use a DVD or better installation media, and with broadband speeds being better than ever, the demand for keeping the DriverPacks sizes down is not as great as it was. Five years ago we were very concerned about fitting them onto a 700MB CD. That is just not an issue anymore .
We really do like creative thinking like yours though! It makes DriverPacks better for everyone!
regards,
Jeff
Wait till you have teenage kids... then talk to me about time and energy LOL
I see I have made my point
(everyone, including the DriverPacks team, has a life and personal priorities)
It is certainly a good idea, We will see where it leads!
Have an awesome day sir!
I will report back on that and will be happy to test anything else while I'm at it...

it does not seem like your source was clean...
you may have also discovered a bug... Deleted \$OEM$\$1\*.ini. (did you have non DriverPacks related ini files there?)
that command may need to be updated to \$OEM$\$1\DriverPack_*.ini. Doh!
It seems (to me and to DriverPacks BASE) as though you are overwriting a source that had a Method 1 slipstream on it previously?
can you try the nightly RC build and report?
We probably can not commit sufficient time for that from one of our very few yet fine volunteers
It is hard enough to find time just to keep them updated without getting crazy with it
Perhaps you could test it for us... do you have one of the affected cards to test with?
Look at the sound packs INI and try moving a section of it and the split file structure to a 3rd party DriverPack
We would be a lot more likely to move in that direction if we had proof of concept !
My feeling is creatives drivers will not be very forgiving to being split up... Please prove me wrong .
