This problem is specific to the HWIDs that are shared between the 666 and 667 driver. So the problem is not yet completely solved.

1) is already answred by Helmi

2) that depends: as long as YOU don't delete the files necessary for the Finisher, NOR the DriverPacks directory, then you can execute it at whatever time/order you prefer.

LOL

I haven't changed anything to the mass storage part so I wonder why it does work now and did not work last week? Are you using it in RAID or JBOD mode btw?

That error is due to the changed directory layout of 3rd party DriverPacks. Once those are all updated, you won't get this error anymore.

@FhM: since SP2, Windows XP ignores that setting... wink

And jtdoom is right: if you do it according to what I posted earlier, you might get a HUGE amount of Driver Signing Policy error dialogs - but if you only apply KTD on signed drivers you will get none...
So here's my updated guide:

Any hint how this can be done?!

Basically it's this:
1. Extract the DriverPacks to your PC, for example to %SystemRoot%\DriverPacks.
2.
a) Start closeDSP.exe:

closeDSP.exe

b) Execute makePNF.exe:

makePNF.exe %SystemRoot%\DriverPacks

c) End closeDSP.exe:

taskkill /f /im closeDSP.exe

3. Execute DevPath.exe:

DevPath.exe %SystemRoot%\DriverPacks

That's it.

the last step is putting your own DriverPack in the "DriverPacks" directory of the DriverPacks BASE.

Just to be 100% sure, 3rd party driver packs are no longer to be in "3rd party DriverPacks" directory, but together with regular DriverPacks in the "DriverPacks" directory?

Ooopss..........

This tutorial was copy/pasted from the one I posted at www.uawiki.org and then updated to comply with the new DriverPacks BASE. I think that's the only thing I forgot... Thanks for letting me know! (Fixed now.)

@jtdoom: that's just an INTERNAL setting: it has read it from the settings file. You're the second one to make a remark about it, so I'll just change the log entry then.

@Ravennt: well... what can I do more than just start the setup with the correct switches? I can't control what the ATI CCP setup does, can I? If you do it manually, how much faster is it then? I have never measured the time required for that, so I don't know. I know it's always been working just fine though.

That error should not have occurred... :s Please retry with 6.08.6 to confirm the problem still exists.

EDIT: this topic will be closed now. Please start a new topic if the problem still exists. But since it's been more than a week since this reply, it's probably solved.

They are included with the BASE, aren't they?

Yes indeed...

So why are you asking, McStarfighter?

It will not try to install the drivers automatically, since it has already failed. You have to let it search automatically for drivers.

@Helmi & midiboy: the version is still at 10.5.1.59 as far as I can see... But check this in the changelog:

-        Issues resolved in this release
o        Potential Memory Utilization Increase
o        Profiles Not Migrated When Upgrading from Previous Software Version
o        Potential Auto-Suspend Failure when using Microsoft Windows* 2000
o        Intermittent Authentication Failure with Cisco Access Point in Heavy Traffic Environment
o        Intermittent Failure to Load or Save a Roaming Profile

So I guess it's safe to use them...

The included driver has not changed since the 6.05 update of DriverPack WLAN. So I'm afraid I can't update it wink

EDIT: the utility has changed though. The driver has therefore been updated.

I know I'm repeating myself here as I posted this in many other threads so far, but to easily modify the INF file to get the ordinray rivers from ATi's page to support mobile devices, use http://www.driverheaven.net/patje
If yor card is not supported yet, do not hesitate to contact the author so he can add it to the list.
This modified driver could then be included in a 3rd Party DP (or Bâshrat the Sneaky could add it to the official packs maybe?) so you get both a current driver (not these totally outdated ones from your laptop manufacturer) and proper support for your res and more.

That's the tool I've used too to mod the drivers wink

The driver you requested is already included! Check the D\W\D\2\E directory.

It already was included, but some exotic additional driver files were not yet included, I have included them now: that will probably fix it. DriverPack WLAN 6.08 will do the trick for you!

But when you use the CCP I included it does not work at all, right?

I'll see if I can modify the .inf file so you can select custom resolutions. I doubt that though. You can always use PowerStrip to use custom resolutions, but of course it should be supported by default. I'll see what I can do.

The Russian translation must be updated. It's NOT invalid, it's just missing some new entries. That's all.

And your installation worked and did most definitely not hang according to your log:

2006-08-26 02:48:02 : <EXEC> Executing all commands (3) for exception [wnt5_x86-32__0002__D-G-A-1].
2006-08-26 02:48:02 : <EXEC> Executing command 1 of 3: "%DPSROOT%\D\G\A\1\ATICCP.exe -y -o%DPSTMP%"
2006-08-26 02:48:05 : <EXEC> No STDOUT output occurred.
2006-08-26 02:48:05 : <EXEC> Executing command 2 of 3: "start /wait %DPSTMP%\Setup.exe /K"
2006-08-26 02:53:16 : <EXEC> No STDOUT output occurred.
2006-08-26 02:53:16 : <EXEC> Executing command 3 of 3: "rd /s /q %DPSTMP%"
2006-08-26 02:53:16 : <EXEC> No STDOUT output occurred.
2006-08-26 02:53:16 : <EXEC> No exceptions left to execute: none have met all requirements!

Of course it 'lags', simply because it must take the time necessary to install the CCP!

The hwids are now also logged in the DPsFnshr.log. No need for that other tool.

You are using the ATI CCP? Perhaps it does not support your Mobility GPU...

It didn't take long at all, DigeratiPrime wink Are you using the latest DriverPack Sound B? (6.08.6) There was a bug in the older versions.

P.S.: the DriverPacks Finisher has a built-in HWID logger wink

I'm very sorry to waste your time Wim, that time it worked for me perfectly meaning it was something I had changed in my cleanup.cmd (which runs right after DriverPacks) that had messed it up. I'll try to find what it is but essentially, I think this is closed with reference to any bug or error on the DriverPacks side.

Sat.

I thought so already smile np wink

You should use the DriverPack Sound B 6.08.6, not 6.06. But I think you ARE but that you just mistyped it.

Please post your DPs_BASE.log.

DOH tongue

EDIT: I should have checked that link sooner: NOW I understand why you said it was a universal driver tongue

I will need your DPs_BASE.log and in particular, your DPsFnshr.log!

I'll wait with this driver until Intel releases a newer driver then.
