It is really recommended to only use the Driver Version 10!
Cause in older versions are a bug wich can be used with several exploits to take control of users system!
The User doesn't need to connected with a Access Point or another WLAN Card...
Just have the Card activated!

Greetings,

Karsten

I second the request!

However, it should be noted that Intel is only offering the v10.5.1.57 drivers on their site so far...

Hmm, I just came around this problem:

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=3887

It remains to be seen whether the .59 drivers are indeed an updated version of the .57 not containing this issue...

Then again, I never use their control panel so I shouldn't be affected...

It's not the control panel wich is affected by the security brech.
It's the driver!

So it's really recommended to update it, or somebody may execute programcode with SYSTEM Privileges..!

Apparently you didn't read the post I liked.

This is NOT the "Take controll of other person's laptop due to faulty driver using buffer underrun" kind of hack but a MEMORY LEAK found in the latest version which is supposed to fix the BUFFER UNDERRUN problem.

Entirely differnt problem and in contrast to the one you posted it IS related to the control panel, not the driver.

I'll wait with this driver until Intel releases a newer driver then.

@Helmi & midiboy: the version is still at 10.5.1.59 as far as I can see... But check this in the changelog:

-        Issues resolved in this release
o        Potential Memory Utilization Increase
o        Profiles Not Migrated When Upgrading from Previous Software Version
o        Potential Auto-Suspend Failure when using Microsoft Windows* 2000
o        Intermittent Authentication Failure with Cisco Access Point in Heavy Traffic Environment
o        Intermittent Failure to Load or Save a Roaming Profile

So I guess it's safe to use them...
