Just so you know: if you slipstream the DriverPacks using nLite, it's not a true slipstream.

Absolutely agreed, however, with any Text Mode drivers I'm sure nLite will slipstream them, else they wouldn't work during the installation wink

Anyway, OptimusBob, just extract the MassStorage DP and point to that path in nLite.
It should then catch the INF files and add the drivers in TextMode (it will tell you so).

I guess that's what you are looking for.

Helmi, You are correct that it should not include the day in the naming...... However, since 3rd party packs are not official and have the possibility to be updated by several sources I have been naming the packs that I contribute to all with the yy.mm.dd naming... so if someone updates it after that there is no question of what is newer. and thank you for taking on renaming them, I'm on a loner computer right now while I'm fixing up my house...

Yeah, NP, but that still does not explain where the 32 came from, eh? wink

All I can say is I always use VPC to test my CDs and it has yet to fail or hang on me *shrugs*

So it's definately not a problem that always occurs.
It's still strange though, since we're basically using the same HW configuration...

No, the 32 is for 32bits.
The first figure is the year, second is month. This is so you can keep track of which pack is newer. The usual release cylce for official packs was ~once a month, hence no need to include any days.

It's just a naming convention and definately nothing crititcally.
I'll try to rename them, though, so they don't look too outdated wink

With VPC, all you need to do is go into the menu of the app (so you'll have to leave the virtual mode --> [Alt Gr]) and select Action|Install or Update Virtual Machine AddOns (or press [Alt Gr]+[i]).
That will take care of the graphics drivers and also allow the mouse pinter to "leave" the virtual mode on-the-fly.

6.08?

It's December over here already wink

When I began this process I was attempting to extract the drivers from Dell's setup.exe files and having a horrible time with it.  Some of the EXE's would not extract.  Through this forum I recently discovered this Driver Backup programs.  These are definately a better alternative, but will still require that I install my OS on every model... install the drivers.. then back them up with these programs.

What program did you use to (try to) extract them?

From my own experience, there's always one way or another to obtain the drivers from these darned exes (I very much prefer a plain and simple zip file, you know wink).
WinRAR and 7-Zip gave me great success.

If not, just run the extractor, it will then extract the files into the temp dir.
YOu will not have to proceed with the installation, just kick-start it to the first "proceed" window.

Have a look for the driver INFs in your (previously cleaned up and swept out) temp dir, copy them out and cancel the installation.

Then you can either use nlite to add them in a M1 fashion to your source or create a 3rd Party DP for M2 use smile

EvilBetty wrote:

Unfortunately I need drivers from each and every driver pack except for Sound A.   So limiting the packs is not an option.

In that case, you will have to use M2 anyway.

It there anything special to creating a 3rd party pack?  Or am I simply moving my file structure into 7-Zip files?

Check the 3rd Party DP forum for instructions on that.

We're currently testing a GUI progress bar for the extraction, so once it's working perfectly (there were some monor last mintue issues), I'm sure it will become a part of the official pack.

How can you IM, PM or whatever you call it to certain members?

You can't.
All the questions about the DriverPacks are to be asked on the Forum so all the community can help and assist you and also profit from the answers.

And, let's face it, unles it were private stuff, why would you ask about it on IM?

Just open a new thread in the appropriate sub-forum and ask away!

srry if this is the wrong place to ask this.....

No big deal but use the appropriate sub-forum next time.

I've moved you there.

You can also find a comprehensive list of supported devices with each driver version in the changelog on the DP DL page.

You need to utilize Method2 (M2) instead of M1.
That will take care of (and is specifically designed to workaround) this problem.

For T-Online users, use the proxy I posted above.
For everyone else, check whether your ISP offers any proxy, try it with that and report back.

It is still strange though, that the referrer would onyl work *through* the proxy and not w/o, while it is exactly the opposite for any other site...

Bâshrat the Sneaky: What kind of DL manager blocker are you using exactly?
Is that anything special, proprietary or just some basic hosting setting?

I know!
I said today and I just got home for bear with me.
Now, I'll have to check whether you already included some of them wink

Give me an hour or two...

Helmi, as a member of the Main Team you automatically have also full access to any team below it, including the DriverPacks Team wink So feel free to join in the DriverPacks updating process any time wink

Yes, I'm fully aware smile

It's just that I lacked the time to contribute anything yet and if I do contribute, I think it needs to meet a certain quality standard.

Certainly, but it is quite a mess.
No proper folder structure, no dodumentation or anything wink

Hopefully I will get around to it the day after tomorrow.
Once I've got it as far as you can actually make use of it, I will of course share it!

It's not that big anyway and I think you already included the most stuff (RealTek HDA and AC'97 sound).

I still do have some Intel MB drivers that were missing (Sigmatel sound).
I'll try to get those as ready as to being able to get included in the sound packs!

Bionicmaster wrote:

What type of help you need? 'cause I can help tracking drivers and things like that (I hjave a few list of drivers to include and not included, video the most)

Any help is welcome!

I really have to include some drivers of mine into the packs, but I haven't had the time to do that properly.
Currently using my own 3rd Party pack for that but it is sub-par compared to the quality standard of the official packs.

Ok, for any of you follow T-Online users, try the following proxy settings:

www-proxy.t-online.de:80
ftp-proxy.t-online.de:80

The latter is not needed I guess, but if you want to use the proxy, at least take the right one wink

Oh, and as a sidenote, using that proxy already gave me a couple of referrer errors on other pages.
This again shows that the problem lies only in conjuction with driverpacks.net
Every other side does NOT like proxies, I guess.

[Posting a new thread because I want to see whether the IP changed]

Lo and behold, using the proxy it seems to be working!
Still doesn't like my DL manager (as expected) but plain ole IE6 gets the goods!

EDIT: As expected, it's showing a different IP (no, I didn't log out or anything).

Either it's indeed some referrer stuff or it must have to do with the IP...

All I know is that it had been working fine for over a year and only started when you did some measures to counter DL managers to reduce workload from your host.

This is really the only page giving me those problems and since I can dl all the other packs just fine (I assume they are on the same host, are they), I doubt it's my ISP.

I am DLing a lot of stuff, including many sites that do use HTTP referrers (which will render my DL manager - GetRight - useless unless I enable special referrer options) and I have never had any problems.

So, I doubt it's a general problem with the ISP.
In any case, I can give them a call on Monday to be absolutely sure it's not their problem, however, it would only affect your site, which makes it even more strange.

Since I have not got around to it I will try their proxy right now, maybe that changes anything...

Bâshrat the Sneaky wrote:

Vista is not yet supported by the DriverPacks! wink

No, but there's already a new version of nLite - vLite - out that does support it smile

http://www.vlite.net/

So, for anyone that wants to, I guess they could add their drivers that way.

Till December, 15-th there will be no updates?

A lot of testing DriverPacks have just been released and I'm sure all of us are busy testing them as good as possible.
Once we can confirm they work flawlessly (well, at least on the HW we can test on) they will get released.
Of course I cannot give a date for that, but theoretically, that could be any day.

Anyway, a bug with the latest RealTek HDa driver has been found so muiz had to revert back to a previous version.

All in all the delay will mean you will hopefully get a bugless DP release wink

If you really can't wait having the latest driver for your specific HW included in your UWXPCD, then just create a small 3rd Party DP.
