Just found this link on another forum:
http://anonym.to/?http://download.micro … aik_en.iso
Not sure if the redirector is needed but as you can see, it really links to MS' own server, so it'S the real deal I guess.
Also, not my/our problem if they do not secure it via cookies or such ;P
DLing now with full speed (only 30min left )!
EDIT:
Great, it's really just the WAIK.
I guess someone was trying to be funny then..
Yeah, HardWare ID.
See the link in our sigs for a tool to obtain them.
It will also be created in the log files after a successful installation but seeing as your fails, you'll have to somehow install Windows w/o the DriverPacks on it in order to run it...
Yeah, that is how it works for the ususal "Found New Device" dialogue, unless you burn all your drivers to an optical medium (or create an ISO and use Daemon Tools or such) because the latter can be searched as a whole.
You may have to extract them first (they can go all into one directory as the sub-dirs of each pack are unique), as I don't think an MS tool supports the 7-zip packing algorithm...
Once extracted, they are available as plain .INFs and .SYSs, I guess that is what the driver import will read.
If you need them CABbed, you could run through Method1, however, Method2 will only rename and copy the 7-ZIPped files over so you virtually gain nothing over taking the DLed packs directly (save the shorter file name ).
Hey, you may want to give the latest nightly a try, then.
(link to old file pulled)
Please report back!

Got any (legal) links to that?
From what I've read, MS has postponed the release of SP1 until March, although they released the RC1 to public (which I got)...
I was contemplating about ordering just another Vista DVD through the Anytime Upgrade program (it's only €4.70, you just pay for s&h) once they moved that on to a slipstreamed version.
I just did a manual slipstream of SP1RC1 into the source yesterday, but if you are used to the easiness of XP, then it's quite cumbersome.
First, you have to install Vista, then install SP1, generalize and close the installation, create a .WIM file of that and include that into your current source replacing the old one.
All in all took well over three hours on a fast machine with recent HW (C2D, 2GB RAM, SATA RAID-0)...
Granted, you only have to do this once, but it still left a somewhat sour feeling...
Firstly, what's that MTP driver anyway?
Secondly, I made bad experiences with removing WMP (using nLite).
While playing WMV files using, say, MPC, was no problem at all, some websites using embedded videos would not work anymore after all!
Unless you really don't need support for that media format anyway, I can only urge you to leave it in and simply just associate files with another player of your choice.
You can even remove the context menu entries of WMP and the like so it looks like it's gone but retain the core functionality.
Thirdly, I see that the language aspect has already been addressed...
Are they that much different from the XP ones?
Generally, 2k3 is supported, I had no problems slipstreaming the DriverPacks to a disc of that and was running fine on my server.
I'd just give it a try if you haven't already.

(not that I couldn't do it myself, but since you're on to it just now... )
Ok, I did a silent edit and repack of the file, it is uploading right now.
New MD5: 932B85DFCDBB0BDEE0E8098650F6E5DC
Please redownload in a minute if you haven't repacked it yourself already.
Just another sidenote, a request thread is to be introduced by adding [REQ] to the thread title so it can easily be identified.
I edited your post for you, but please keep that in mind for the next time!
As both files were supplied by Windows Update, I cannot give an official link (unless someone knows a trick how to obtain that one from WU).
I have DLed them, extracted them using a driver extractor, 7zipped and uploaded to our host:
http://3rdpartydriverpacks.thesneaky.co … iI_3114.7z
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm … e=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng
Both the latest official DriverPack Sound B as well as the latest nightly only contain the outdated v5.10.5511 from 05/06/2007 in D\S\S\I\.
Ok, the installation worked this time, however, from some reason unknown to me, T-13 only took like 20 secondsand more than half of my addons did not get installed.
Also, the CCC is missing.
I also got a prompt from the IDT Sigmatel audio drivers to please configure jack sensing setting (speakers or headphones) during installation!
Couldn't proceed before I had moved the window so I could reach the X to close it (guess [ALT]+[F4] would have worked, too)...
I did a retest on a VM this time using the same image just prior to slipstreaming the DriverPacks in (I always create one "backup" ISO since I am dealing with the nightly packs) which did install my stuff during T-13, however BSOD'ed on me a bit later (NON_PAGED_AREA or such).
Rerunning the installation right now.
Um, where?
The link at the top still leads to the wrongly packed file...
Well, you could always create a special 3rd party DriverPack for it containing only the needed drivers along with the DPCS (which you probabaly do not want to mess with because of the more complicated TM drivers).
Anyway, which model did you get and how is your overall impression?
I am seriously considering picking one up (preferrably the 10" that is supposed to come out during CeBIT - maybe I will attend and can try one at the ASUS booth )!
Personally, I think the EEEPC is way more thrilling than the Mac Book Air, but that may just be me

I'm gonna give it a try. As I understood, and following your post OverFlow, I should be able to put all the drivers in my XP installation CD. If there's not enough space, I think I saw somewhere a post to put all the drivers on a dedicated CD that XP will recognize when installing.
Thanks again!
Well, depending on what you add and remove (for instance using nLite), you may have a somewhat hard time fitting it on an ordinary 700MB CD-R.
I am adding an update pack that contains all the post-SP2 updates for XP, .NET, DX, IE7, WMP11 etc and only the official DriverPacks while removing a lot of (unneeded( stuff from the original XP CD and can only fit it on a rare and expensive 800MB CD-R using Nero (which has the option to fit an additionally 12MB using a shorter lead-out on the CD).
That's why I have moved to DVD some time ago, so I can add even more stuff, 3rd party DriverPack, don't have to improvise, can keep XP Help and use way cheaper DVD+RWs for testing (when not in a VM).
Ok, so I tried the installation but it locked up before it boots the OS (prior to OOBE, I presume, I wasn't watching the installation progress)...
Since this machine had a presumably defective HDD (but the scan tools couldn't find any bad sectors) I'm not sure what the real cause is.
The HDD LED was alit brightly though...
Trying again now and if problem persist, I will change HDD and report back.
OverFlow wrote:Hiya Helmi - where you been i missed ya...
Hey!
Missed you guys, too!
I've been totally busy with university and stuff (guess kinda like Bâshrat the Sneaky...) and didn't get around to fiddle with the DriverPacks AT ALL (not even keeping up to date on the progress or visiting the forums regularly).
Since I haven't had a current UWXPCD in months now, it was more than about time I created one (plus, I got this machine from my cousin here that needs fixing).
Gonna reinstall my main rig, too, very soon (hopefully over the next week).
Now, I finally got a bit time on my hands as we've just got vacation from uni
EDIT: Just tried with RC2 and it worked like a charm (slipstream that is, install to commence right now).
11'43 is a bit long but at least no darn error
abdou wrote:Hi,
can you add "Acer Crystal Eye webcam" to webcam driverpacks ?
thank's for all
You should post such a request (that is, if you find yourself incapable or unwilling to add it yourself ) in the section it belongs to - 3rd party DriverPack!
Also, providing a link to the driver is considered quite polite
Using Latest RC with all latest nightlies (that is all DriverPacks except DriverPack Sound A).

Going to revert back to the previous RC (gonna need to finish a DVD today...).
Usually, appropriate Linux software can be easily obtained through the repositories.
It may even be grouped into officially supported by the distribution creators and unsupported.
The auto-update function of Linux also does a great job at keeping your installed software up-to-date.
From my personal (albeit somewhat limited, compared to Windows) Linux experience Ubuntu really does a great job at supporting a plethora of HW (even closed-source GFX drivers).
Sabayon Linux is also one that catched my eye.
Unless you really have to stick to a specific distribution, I would recommend testing several Live CDs/DVDs to make sure the HW of a specific machine is supported and install the distro that offers the widest support.
Of course, youz could always compile your own kernel and add drivers as you please but that is kind of far from being an out-of-the-box experience...
Yeah, I mean, we have this sub-forum for a reason, so why not use it?
Basically, anything that has to do with creating a UWXPCD is surely of interest for one or the other visitor of this place.
As long as you mind the rules, I more than welcome interesting (though I do not personally use this tool) posts.
Keep 'em coming, spread the knowledge!
