My guess is that Nvidia sadly won't release any, even though it certainly is technically possible to create some.

Let's hope the miracle happens and Nvidia decides to show some love for XP.

Anybody knows anything about this? Feel free to post info here.




Windows XP was the top OS in the world for ten years, 2001 - 2011. Many apps/games from that period run best under XP, and that's why it makes sense to some to have XP installed on a modern pc, often alongside Vista/7/8.1/10.


Fully functional XP drivers were released for the 9xx series (maxwell) from September 2014 till May 2016 (344.11 - 368.22), and most of them are still available at Nvidia's drivers downloads.
So 950 - 960 - 970 - 980 - 980 Ti - Titan X can be installed under XP and work properly, but now that the more modern 1070 - 1080 are here, it would be nice to be able to do it with those too.

Updated below.

Note that these tests are indeed also applicable to a DP_Base integrated NT5 Install from a virgin source with no updates added (including DirectX).

Standard Tests

1) First as i reach the Desktop for the first time, i search for setup*.log, dp*.log and save all logs found except setup.log.  Then i copy them to the desktop.

2) After a restart, i run dxdiag & "Save All Information" to the desktop in the file DxDiag.txt.

3) I then check "Add & Remove Programs" to confirm proper installation.

4) After, i check "Device Manager" (devmgmt.msc) to verify driver installation and WHQL status.
        If something is not right, <Alt><Print Screen> will copy the current window contents to the clipboard.
         Then i create a New Bitmap File, right-click, edit it, paste the clipboard contents, and save as PNG.
          It is certainly possible for Device Manager to not report the actual version of a driver installed.
           Verify file dates and versions versus those in the DxDiag.txt report.

5) After, i check "Event Viewer" (eventvwr.msc) to check for driver-related errors.
         If any are found, i right-click on "System" and "Application" and "Save Log File as.." CSV to the Desktop.

6) Then i run "Export_XML_Report" using Geeks3D's GPU Caps Viewer.
       This "report.xml" is copied to the desktop.
        Next, i verify function of the Graphics Adapter with only the included relevant tests.
         To know which tests should work, i check the OpenGL version & OpenCL information.

7) For PhysX testing, i use Geeks3D's FluidMark.  This allows testing of PhysX-CPU-only installations such as GeForce 6 & 7 Series too.

8) Finally, i copy all generated logs, pictures & reports to my USB Thumb drive for later analysis.

9) DXVA capabilities can be viewed utilizing Bluesky's DXVA Checker.

10) Basic temperature and possibly fan speed data can be obtained with CPUID's Hardware Monitor.

11) D-P-C Latency Tester (linked in signature) can be used to identify problem hardware and/or drivers.

Missing:  1) DirectX testing and/or reporting other than DxDiag.
              2) Additional tests for NT6.x

These drivers are for the most part WHQL'ed.
  Many configurations will require a restart after achieving the Desktop.

Avoid multi-monitor setups for testing &/or resolutions of 1900x1200 and above.
  This may effect most GPU's from any manufacturer as noted by nVidia.
  See nVidia's latest Release Notes for clarification.

  This doesn't mean "never do this", simply beware the consequences.

Also avoid multi-card setups unless they are identical or by differing GPU manufacturer.
   (ATi=AMD, nVidia, Intel, etc) 
  One exception would be those identical cards where a driver is already included in NT5 installation media (mostly legacy), as bluescreens may result.  That also effects Sound cards.  Setup with one card of a series is recommended.  Install the second after Setup completes, then add it and allow Windows to autodetect it.
nVidia's PhysX engine may not 'like' multi-card "hybrid" setups though.

Monitor your fan speeds and temperatures.  That is one of your responsibilities.
Some recommendations for "standardized testing" can been viewed here.

Also beware that there may exist Security Vulnerabilities inherent in any of these drivers.

In addition to the main Graphics packs A, B & C, ATi-TV & External are compatible with the latest version of SAD3.  The remaining packs are addons for the main Graphics packs.

Note that DP_Graphics_3dfx-ATi_wnt5_x86-32 will be later reincorporated into the main packs.
      edit:  Implimented.  DP_Graphics_3dfx-ATi_wnt5_x86-32 is now obsolete.

I have no changelogs as of yet, although they will be included at a later date.
  The included contents files may be somewhat out of date at this present time.

Since the 310 drivers no longer support the old GeForce 6 and 7 series (from 2004 - 2005) Nvidia will be releasing a driver for them that contains the fix for the security vulnerability in the coming weeks. This was mentioned by ManuelG in the following thread:

there was a matching filename I believe, but it would fail everytime.. Downloaded the driver from dell.com

If I knew how to help out with this more, I would, If anyone wants to point me in the right direction, I do a LOT of reinstalls

Sorry if this information is easy to find, but I've tried looking at the Driverpacks pages and the packs themselves and just get confused!

I only need drivers for Nvidia Geforce FX5200 (or FX5600, I can't quite recall and I don't have access to the machine at the moment),  Intel 82815 (Aida32 also shows "3D Accelerator:  Intel i752" but maybe that's part of the 815) and ATI Mobility M1 (3D Accelerator:   ATI Rage P/M Mobility).

So if someone could clarify which packs I need to cover those, I'd be very grateful.  If I can then edit those packs to remove all but the drivers I need (or at least remove several unneeded folders) that would help keep the size of my image down and be even better, so please confirm if that's possible.

it is possible to set the output of the all Intel drivers integrated in the Graphic driverpacks B on VGA/LVDS ports at the same time during the XP setup? This is because i have some industrial mobo with the output set to the LVDS connector by default and, when you install XP, after the T-13 step of Windows, the screen became blank on the VGA monitor and only active on the LVDS.
If I set the output to VGA only by the BIOS the problem is the same.
But some of my PC don't use the LVDS and is not possible to see nothing on screen. My PC are industrial PC with mobo made by Portwell or Commell.

Please. Is very important.

The following inferred line seems too vague.

   When I uninstall the driver (& OEMxx.inf file from C:\Windows\Inf) most devices attached to the SouthBridge are re-detected & re-installed.  I was able to verify that it was indeed HW attatched to the SB with a System-Block-Diagram from a service manual.

   I have no data as of yet as to whether this causes any stability or performance issues.  Just thought someone should make mention, just in case.  Perhaps this would present an opportunity to segregate the Matrox drivers that are related to this driver, should it prove to be more than an annoyance or to prevent it's installation on any other non-Matrox hardware. hmm
