Topic: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

I encounter this problem few month before, and it has been solved in he previous driver pack for MassStorage, but it happens again in the version 7.04, integrating the old DP (7.01.1) fix the problem, but have issue in the driver pack finisher.

My M/B is... Gigabyte P965-DS4 version 1, it has JMicron RAID included along with the Intel ICH8R, seems to be an issue with the conflict between em'

Not sure how to fix it...

Where can I download the older BASE? can anybody mail me 7.03rc4...?

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

Perhaps is a problem with AD-A driver in MassStorage.

You have two possibilities, Edit ini file and change :

1)  ms_count = 1 To ms_count = 0

Or

2)
ms_1_hwids            = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF&SUBSYS_498015D9&REV_02,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_25B0"

To
ms_1_hwids            = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF&SUBSYS_498015D9&REV_02"

I know a conflict exist with this driver and AD-A driver !

I have a problem with detect my ICH5R : http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1420

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

Thanks Vier for your reply~

I've read your post before, and having no luck trying method 2, how could I set ms_count =0 in the ini?

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

Edit the DriverPack_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32.ini in MassStorage, if you use QSC, edit file in QSC folder !!!
1)
[AD-A]
ms_count             = 1
ms_1_deviceName        = "Adaptec Embedded Serial ATA HostRAID Controller"
ms_1_tag            = "aarich"
ms_1_sysFile        = "aarich.sys"
ms_1_hwids            = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF&SUBSYS_498015D9&REV_02,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_25B0"
ms_1_isBusExtender    = false
ms_1_exc_disableIfOS= "w2k"

You have two possibilities for change (for ICH5R it's works 2 method for detect my RAID system) :

[AD-A]
ms_count             = 0
ms_1_deviceName        = "Adaptec Embedded Serial ATA HostRAID Controller"
ms_1_tag            = "aarich"
ms_1_sysFile        = "aarich.sys"
ms_1_hwids            = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF&SUBSYS_498015D9&REV_02,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_25B0"
ms_1_isBusExtender    = false
ms_1_exc_disableIfOS= "w2k"

Or 2)

[AD-A]
ms_count             = 1
ms_1_deviceName        = "Adaptec Embedded Serial ATA HostRAID Controller"
ms_1_tag            = "aarich"
ms_1_sysFile        = "aarich.sys"
ms_1_hwids            = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF&SUBSYS_498015D9&REV_02"
ms_1_isBusExtender    = false
ms_1_exc_disableIfOS= "w2k"

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

Hello,

I'm trying to install Windows on a Gigabyte DS3 for a friend of mine and I'm experiencing something that looks lime the same problem.
If I configure the drive in AHCI and connect to the Intel Port or the Gigabyte One (JMicron), I face a BSOD just before the partitionning screen.
I'll try the manipulation of the ms_count tonight and post the result.

Thanks for your (unknown) help !!!

hi
AD-A and Jmicron issues are hopefully resolved soon

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

summary of changes
iastor old version, and adaptec had conflicts

jmicron was reported to cause conflicts, the files were updated and changed load order
generics that were seen as causing conflicts were killed, and specifics only were kept in place..

what Vier says, is also a workaround
when you rebuild, after you have edited the INI in QSC, that edit in QSC will be used to as textmode filters.

if you want to unpack mass stor in an empty folder to make your own mass stor pack, you can, you will find an INI, you can edit it, and repack INI and D folder, but make sure to give it a current date name so that when you use it, it will be seen as a version. Base checks legit version names.
IF YOU KEEP SAME NAME, then DELETE QSC FOLDER.
704 can become 70417 and it will be accepted as legit version ''where did you get this", can be ignored. smile

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

I have downloaded the 70417 and tried to install with this pack on a Gigabyte P965-DS4 with the result of a Bluescreen before partitionning the disk (stop 0000007B). The drive is configured as AHCI and the JMicron as IDE in BIOS. With the older driverpacks 7016 all is o.k.(when disabling the jmicron in dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif), but since the 704 Bluescreen.
I think there is also another bug in the 07417: most of the drivers in the dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif are commented out after integrating them.

Thanks for your work,

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

I´ve tested it now by commenting out the jahci (JMicron) in dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif. This now works on a Gigabyte P965-DS4, no Bluesreen, pack 07417. JMicron in BIOS as IDE, only DVD-ROM and DVD-Burner on it, no need of AHCI in BIOS für the JMicron.
To be continued...

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

Hi,

the workaround I found for the DS3 is to set ms_count = 0 instead of 1 in the Driver pack ini file of the mass storage text mode driver pack for the JMircon driver.
I also updated the driver for the Intel ICH8R with a modified one that enables AHCI on ICH8 as well as on ICH8R.

With all this the installation went fine and now this new config rocks !

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

I need to check something using the current official Base release.

I read a report that a lot of drivers are commented out in textmode.sif and dosnet.inf, and I could reproduce that in our test version..
those that should work for XP are disabled by lines intended for w2k or 2k3, and I need to look at that when I use official release.

Re: [BUG] BSOD 007B error w/ MassStorage DP 7.04 on Intel ICH8R RAID

mass storage test releases after 70410 and before 70418 (files you got from rapidshare) contain an error.

a new mass storage 70418 for TESTING purposes will be uploaded
