Topic: Rocket RAID 454 gets wrong driver

Just made my first unattended using the driver packs, and the Highpoint RAID card I have is causing problems.. I had to physically remove all drives from it or windows would bluescreen at the install stage when it came to the 'select hard drive to install to' screen.

With all drives removed it let me install, but now windows is installed, I can see from the device manager that my RocketRAID 454 card has been given the wrong drivers, the device manager is showing 'RocketRAID 154x/1640 Controller' which is the driver for the SATA RAID card, my card is the ATA RAID card and the device manager *should* list 'HPT374 UDMA/ATA133RAID Controller'

I suspect this may have been the problem causing my blue screen during the textsetup part of the install, ie my 454 ATA card was being given the 1640 SATA drivers...

Anyone else here with a 454 ? Does it work for you ? FYI I didn't use nlite on this, it's just SP2+Bâshrat the Sneaky Driver Packs+ryanVM's post SP2 updates made with the Bâshrat the Sneaky utility within the last 7 days...

Im looking for a way to attach my DPsFnshr.log to this post but I don't see any way to attach files....

**EDIT - Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, if someone would be kind enough to move it for me... ~TIA

Re: Rocket RAID 454 gets wrong driver

hi
welcome to Driverpacks.net

did you run RVM after you did the driverpacks?

to me, it looks that way, and that could very well be the cause of your problems.
It is best that you do driverpacks as the last thing on a source you are streaming things into.

Re: Rocket RAID 454 gets wrong driver

hi and thanks for the warm welcome...

Thanks for the suggestion, I have gone back and checked the log files generated by both RVM's Integrator and Bâshrat the Sneaky BASE and there is no doubt that I did RVM FIRST, then did Bâshrat the Sneaky last...

I have been making unattended installs since 2003, and until now I have been doing it by hand, this is my first attempt at using one of the 'automated' systems that are available, I have always stayed away from nLite and all the other software as I preferred to do it my self... until now :-)

The steps I took were :-

Take an original XP CD
Slipstream SP2 and Integrate Post SP2 fixes using RVM
Add drivers via Bâshrat the Sneaky
Make iso and test in VM Ware
Burn iso and install on main system

It see's my Raptor RAID array on the nForce 4, and the install goes fine if I have nothing connected to my Highpoint RAID card, so it's loading the nForce raid drivers ok at textsetup stage, but something is not right with the Highpoint 454 drivers...

Any other suggestions ? ~TIA

Re: Rocket RAID 454 gets wrong driver

Hi
attachments can be uploaded at the bugtracker when you report a bug.

in the forum, you can paste the txt of the log in a post, preferrably wrapped within  code tags

I hope this issue gets solved, there are reports on problems with Nvidia chipsets, but Bâshrat the Sneaky will most likely want to see the HWIDs on that rocketraid card as well

Hope this helps, CU soon

Re: Rocket RAID 454 gets wrong driver

Hello again, sorry it's taken me so long to get back on this one, still having major problems with this system, Im getting to the point where Im gonna format and install my original XP then start updating, that will be fun...

Anyways, I believe you wanted to see the DPsFnshr.log file, you said to use code tags but I can't find any reference on here about code tags, what they are, or how they work... Over on MSFN there is a button I can click to get code tags, but I don't see that here... I will try putting what I think it needs, but if I screw up and it doesn't come out right, then Im sorry...

This is the result from my last install which was done just 2 days ago, I notice a line that says 'No exceptions left to execute: none have met all requirements!' and I was wondering, is that normal ? Its not installing my catalyst CC or anything like that, is it supposed to ? It seems to get the drivers right, but none of the additional stuff is there and Im not sure what to expect...

Regarding my Highpoint 454 drivers, I downloaded the drivers for the 1640 card from Highpoint, and it appears as tho the hardware ID's of the 1640 and the 454 are the same, not only that, but the drivers files have the same names also, ie hpt374.cat, hpt374.inf & hpt374.sys, although a binary compare of the actual files themselves confirm that the contents of the 1640 files are different from the 454 files of the same name...
