I've just increased the limit from 250 MB to 400 MB, you'll have some headroom again now.

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

In my experience, WinXP supports usb printing support already. Adding in driverpack this driver makes proper installation impossible.

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

WinXP certainly DOES need drivers for some HP USB printers, we've just deployment some recently....

Yes, I can confirm that.

I run into heavy torubles when I tried to add my HP LaserJet 1000 as a 3rd party DriverPack because of said required USB driver.
For some reason or another, although chosing the German version of the driver, the English version of the USB driver got installed, which XP didn't like and therefore my printer got not installed.
I had to manually point to the German USB file to make it work hmm

Anyway, nice to see this pack!
Thanks a lot, maxximum smile

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

another nice pack!
updated my stickie to reflect it smile

Well, not necessarily.

IIRC, I had to point it to the USB printer host file in the Win dir.
I suppose it was a supplied-with file hence (else, it should have been included in the driver, right?).

My take is it's somewhat similar to the HDA hotfix you need to install.

Also, XP never had proper USB support until SP2, so...

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

Hi,

Loads of these don't work, ive tried 5 printers and none worked.

2550, 4100 are getting missing dl_ errors, sub dir 13 and 16
sub 17 none of them work, all missing .cf_ files.

Common problem is its after compressed files ending dl_ or cf_ and the ones in the driver pack are extracted it appears.

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

Actually almost nothing works in this driver pack due to file extensions, was anything in it tested at all, or am I missing something??

Well, I personally did not test it (no HP printers).  But you can bet that it WAS tested.  My guess is that you did not have KTD enabled and your printer was not turned on during the Windows install process.  I'd be very surprised if the entire pack was somehow broken.

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

Hi,
You dont need any of the printers to test it.
Integrate this driverpack (with KTD on), goto add printer > manually add it to LPT1, select it from the list of HP printers, then u will see issues.
Try the Laserjet 2300 or the 4100 - for the 4100 its after cab packed dl_ files and all the ones in the dir are expanded.

I've tested some I use ... and others I didn't.
In that case, this DP needs some cleanup ... but I don't have spare time to do it.

I've quickly tested sub-dirs "01" and "02" manually : all drivers installed (no errors "file not found").
Concerning sub-dir "17" : file "hplj2300.CF_" isn't found ... All these cab weren't changed : I guess the driver coming from HP has some files missing.

If you have some time to test all other sub-dirs, any help is welcome : test in VMware for example, repack DP, and share it. smile smile

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

maxximum, I can confirm what chud says..
In my case, I have problems with hp laserjet 1300.

I think this is due to the entry [SourceDisksFiles] in the .inf file that indicates to a ::makecabed:: files in it (for example: hpprn05.dl_).
I think that all the files in .inf folder must be ::makecabed:: like it is in the entry [SourceDisksFiles].

Please someone comment ..
This pack is really usefull, I can't exclude it from Bâshrat the Sneaky

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

I've tested each sub-dir to install printers:
- I've changed nothing in sub-dirs 01, 02, 04, 05, 07, 10, 14, 15 : all were working fine.
- I've cabbed files in these sub-dirs (install couldn't find non cabbed files) : 03, 06, 08, 09, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17. Then drivers installs fine smile.

I've 7zipped the pack to version 7.04.29. Updated post @ top of this page.

Great, I updated the entry in the stick thread:
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 3783#p3783

Please, be so kind and provide some MD5 hash for completion's sake smile

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

maxximum, thank you very much!
I hope this version has no errors. roll

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

MD5 hash added.

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

well..
- The previous hp pack was 134 MB - uncompressed -.
- This hp pack is 105 MB - uncompressed - (after makecabbing some files).
While..
- The previous hp pack was 40.7 MB - compressed -.
- This hp pack is 47.8 MB - compressed - !!! (it should be smaller than this size) wink

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

7zip compress better than cabarc which is used to compress files :
- DP is bigger 7zipped
- but smaller once uncompressed

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

I don't understand !

- How can be that the decompressed size is small (105 MB), and the compressed size is big (47.8 MB)
- The decompressed size of this pack is 105 MB not 112 MB like you said in the top of the topic.

I'm asking because the size is critical for me.

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] DriverPack Printer HP v7.05.15

You're right : that's 105 Mb decompressed, and not 112 Mb.
Concerning compression : 7zip works best on uncompressed files than on files already compressed (which is the case with cabarc files):
- Old pack : all files of DP uncompressed ==> 134 Mb, and 7zipped : 40.7 Mb
- New pack : half of files of DP are already compressed, the other half are uncompressed ==> 105 Mb, and 7zipped : 47.8 Mb
