Topic: New Tool: TechUSB

For those of you who do hardware diagnostics, software diagnostics, malware removal, etc, a new tool recently came out that I wanted to share with the big forums.
TechUSB:

What does it do?
Gathers System Information
Hardware Diagnostics
Hard Drive Diagnostics (BadBlocks and SMART Checks)
Memory Diagnostics
Minimum System Requirement Checks
File System Checks and Repairs
NTFS, FAT, HFS+, Ext2/3/4
Scans for and Removes Malware
Great for bad infections because it operates outside the host OS
Creates simple report page upon completion
Option to Email Logs to Techs
View Report Online

Runs from Linux and allows you to perform many diagnostics for Windows, it's currently in Beta, so try it while it's free!

Re: New Tool: TechUSB

Hello.  I noticed that logs are collected and transmitted to RepairTech & D7.

A privacy policy seems to have been overlooked, nor is any data-collection mentioned in the End User License Agreement.  In addition, it is unclear precisely what information is collected.

I am not trying to slag this new product(s) nor the people that created them.  I would to congratulate the authors for giving this idea a go, though.  I am especially intrigued by the claim of temperature monitoring.  IMHO, this is missing from both MEMTEST projects.  Including such monitoring may have made their project much more difficult to manage, if not impossible to escape Beta.  smile

linux: what would Windows technicians do without it? Thanks Linus!

Re: New Tool: TechUSB

Hi - my name is Ian Alexander, I'm the CEO of RepairTech, Inc. I was looking at our Google Analytics and found this forum post and thought I'd drop in to say hi and answer your question regarding our EULA.

A privacy policy seems to have been overlooked, nor is any data-collection mentioned in the End User License Agreement.  In addition, it is unclear precisely what information is collected.

We wrote a Privacy Policy shortly after you made that post actually. It's pretty simple. We don't share your information with anyone, period. In reality, the data we collect is only used to fix bugs and improve our products.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to answer them.

Have a good one,

Ian
