Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

I am editing \plugin\DriverPacks.net\MassStorage\MassStorage.inf and see that there about 100 entries that reference "ql2300".
Do I delete them all?  Seems messy.

Is the alternative route to " ... use NLite to slipstream KB939315 into W'Server 2003."   What is NLite?  Am I supposed to simply install this KB onto my 2003 box (I would rather not blindly install updates)?

thanks,
john

The fix for this is documented many times:
http://www.tsmguru.com/blades/ibm-blade … upted.html
http://solutions.qlogic.com/KanisaSuppo … t-15170020

NOTE: You must apply the Microsoft Storport update before installing or upgrading the driver. Windows Server 2003 SP2 (or later) requires Microsoft fixes KB932755 and KB939315 (or later). Windows Server 2003 SP1 requires Microsoft fixes KB932755 and KB939315 (or later). For Boot from SAN installation, use the Windows 2003 SP2 first, then apply the KB update

I'm going to comment out the entire [Q3] section of the .ini.  I'll leave it up to individuals to enable the txtmode feature or not.

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

I know this thread is old, but for the benefit of anyone else having this problem:

1. Deleting the lines containing QL2300.SYS in the MassStorage.inf file doesn't work.
2. What worked for me is extracting the Storport.sys file from the KB939315.exe and using this to replace the existing storport.sys in the \BartPE\I386\System32\Drivers folder. Then building a fresh ISO using UBCD4Win (press F5 to just build a new ISO from existing output files).
Extracting the storport.sys is a little tricky (but I hate NLite), just run the KB exe file on a machine that is not running 2003 server (I used an XP machine), when the error message appears don't click OK. The exe will have created a folder on the root of the drive you are running it from (which it deletes immediately after you click ok).

Hope this helps somebody.

I hit a seperate problem after this after this, with the i2omp.sys file :-(

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

Glad it worked for you.  But just to clarify, KB939315 doesn't apply to w2k3r2, only the original w2k3.

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

@lkm020

Thank you, it was a big help for me. Only note - extracting Storport.sys isn't so tricky.
You only need to extract WindowsServer2003-KB939315-x86-ENU.exe from downloaded file with 7zip
and then run WindowsServer2003-KB939315-x86-ENU.exe -x as any microsoft hotfix.

Once more, thank you.

P.S. Did you resolve the i2omp.sys problem - i have sometimes on some servers the same problem.
