Topic: Windows XP Professional x64

Hello,

I have a new Acer Aspire computer with Windows Vista Home Premium x64, I would like to install Windows XP Professional x64 on to the computer because I have 4GB DDR2 Ram, I can't install x32 operating system because not all 4GB of ram is displayed or used.

My question is, is there or will there be support for x64 Windows XP?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Windows XP Professional x64

No.  XP-64 will never have support at DriverPacks.net.

You CAN install XP-32 though and it will be very happy on your laptop (Acer may not support the downgrade though).
Win7-64 will be 500% better than XP and probably be fully supported by Acer as well.

Using a 32-bit OS, 3.25 to 3.5 GB of RAM will be available. Given current RAM prices, the small loss should be negligible.
In fact, a 64-bit OS (as well as 64-bit executables) will consume more RAM than its 32 bit counterpart, resulting in effectively less RAM if you only use 4 GB!
Hence, you should either upgrade to 6 GB of RAM or use a 32-bit OS.

Nonsense, XP, Vista, and Win7 all come in 32-bit versions and run just fine when 4Gb of RAM is installed. Where are you getting the information that you can't install x32?
