Topic: [DUPLICATE] BSOD on SiI 3112r controller

I have tested on two PC's;
1)
A7N8X Deluxe
NVIDIA nForce2
ATI Radeon X1600PRO 256MB
2)
LANPARTY UT SLi-D
nF4 chipset
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Series GPU  (256 Mb)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1)
Gives BSOD during instal, it formates well, copys all files needed, reboot's--->BSOD
The meassage on VDU says "check your harddisk". (In Norwegian)

2)
Instals without any problem. smile

The same disk where used on both machines, connected to SATA.

Is this the notorious NVata driver problem again.......?

Re: [DUPLICATE] BSOD on SiI 3112r controller

Perhaps your HDD really is at the end of its life? The only way to find out is to temporarily use it in that other pc and install Windows onto it. If that works, then something is wrong with the drivers. Or at least check for bad sectors.

The HD is new....

The Hd is now installed on (2) as addon, and works fine.

You dont relate this to nForce2 / nForce4 problem?

Re: [DUPLICATE] BSOD on SiI 3112r controller

Did you format it? Are you using the automatical formatting functionality of setup?

Re: [DUPLICATE] BSOD on SiI 3112r controller

During the winxp instal you can remove any partisjon, then format&instal.

I did that on (1) & (2).

Iam going to test (1) with a clean XP instal(using F6 and floppy) later to day.... wink

Re: [DUPLICATE] BSOD on SiI 3112r controller

Is the HDD connected to the nForce 2 PATA controller or to the onboard SiI 3112r SATA controller?

It's a Sata disk connected to the onboard SiI 3112r SATA controller.

In that case, I can refer you to this topic.
