Topic: [SLVD] dpms 1106 - Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI problem

hi. i tested the latest MassStorage 1106 driver pack on Sony Vaio VPCSB1A9R notebook with Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C03.
the system (Windows XP SP3) hangs with black screen in text mode after all sata/scsi drivers are loaded during hard disk drives detection.
the drivers were built-in by using of methode 2. also i tried methode 1 and the result is practically the same but bsod instead of black screen.

here is DPs_BASE_1006 log

Re: [SLVD] dpms 1106 - Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI problem

Do previous versions of dpms work?  Yours is an interesting case because the new 10.5 RST drivers SHOULD work perfectly but seem to conflict on your system.

Previous DP versions didnt work thus i decided to update the distribution with the most recent ones.

These are many copies of Intel AHCI drivers (iaStor.sys) of different versions. It seems to me that it is possible reason of conflict, isnt it? Actually what for they are needed? According to iaAHCI.inf v10.x it supports all previous controllers:

How can I remove all previous Drivers Packs integrated in distribution?

Re: [SLVD] dpms 1106 - Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI problem

To remove all DriverPacks, you would execute DriverPacks BASE and uncheck all the DriverPacks then select slipstream.  This effectively "uninstalls" the DriverPacks from your source.
The Sony driver is the RST 10.1.  http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/v … B&os=6
Does that work for you?
If so, dpms 1104 should work because it contains the same driver.

I tried integrating DP 1104 in clean Windows XP SP3 distrib - without any success (hanging with black screen problem remains).
I tried to replace iastor.sys and other driver files with those which is provided by manufacturer for this model http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/v … B&os=6 - without any success.
Also I tried to replace iastor.sys and other driver files with different v10.x builds http://www.station-drivers.com/page/intel%20raid.htm - without any success.
Finally i updated system BIOS up to the latest version - without any success too. By the way there is no SATA native/compatible mode (or smth like that) switcher in BIOS setup.

Re: [SLVD] dpms 1106 - Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI problem

Does your XP install work without any DriverPacks integrated?  If so, then the Sony driver is meant to be installed after XP, and not during.
It sounds as if you're following the correct test protocols, but the hardware just isn't cooperating.

Re: [SLVD] dpms 1106 - Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI problem

Finally I installed Windows XP SP3 on Sony Vaio VPCSB1A9R notebook with Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C03 by integrating MassStorage 1106 driver pack and changing the installation source from USB flash drive to CD-ROM drive.

Experiments showed that other notebooks with Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C03 made by Acer and Samsung have the same problem - hanging up with black screen on hdd detection when installing from USB flash drive.

Thank you for support.

Re: [SLVD] dpms 1106 - Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI problem

OK, thank you for confirming that the problem is NOT with DriverPacks, but instead the install method.
Strange that I'm able to install XP perfectly fine from my USB drive onto my Acer netbook. neutral (different HWID though)
