Topic: [IMPL] Audio IDT driver Dell Optiplex 210L

Hi all, my first post here.

I have just built a universal XP image using your fabulous software, I will donate shortly as it is most definately a handy bit of kit you guys have created.

The only driver missing in my case was audio driver/device: IDT 92HD71B

Is it possible for me to download the driver myself and paste copy into the C:\D directory? Would driverpacks utilize the driver if I did this manually?

I did download the latest XP driver packs, unfortuantely, didn't seem to be included.

sure, it's a Dell Optiplex 210L. It's formatting atm, but service tag is 8nqgb2j if that helps?

If it's not too much trouble, is it easy for me to manually add the driver that I have downloaded from Dell?

That's interesting, when I typed the PCs service tag into Dell's website, they confirm it is an IDT and offer the driver for download. I will post HWID shortly, just waiting for Windows install to finish

Hmmm, I just tried from sound b d/s/i Returned the following:

IDT High Definition Audio Codec

An error occurred during the installaiton of the device

A device attached to the system is not functioning

I assume this is indicating a hardware fault? Or am I wrong?

I think you are right, it isnt an IDT device.

I tried to install the driver from Dell - Wrong driver... Possibly sigmatel?

Sorry if I am spamming here - Just to let you know, the Sigmatel driver from the Dell website works.

Am I able to inject this driver manually? If so, would it be possible to provide me with some guidance please?

The driver in SoundB 'D\S\I8\STHDA.INF' is newer than the one on dell's site (07/27/2006,5.10.5143.0 - no 'control panel').  I don't know if it will work for your HW, though.

When I try to install from D\S\I8 I recieve a 'files needed' prompt.

The file 'sthda.sys' on SigmaTel High Definition Audio WDM Driver Disk is needed

DriverPack Sound B D\S\I14\STHDA.INF is the closest match.  But still not a direct match.  An .inf edit is required.
Change line 63 (first of the HWIDs) from

to

I see that IDT (Integrated Device Technology) acquired the PC-audio division of Sigmatel in mid 2006, yet the driver you've mentioned is dated mid 2007.  Would this explain the similarity of this driver to the structure of the IDT HDA drivers?  hmm

Perhaps robf's HDA chip was SigmaTel IP with an IDT logo on it.

Hi,

I made the change, unfortunately when I tried to install, I recieved a copy error.

FYI: Setup cannot copy the file staco.dll
