Re: DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_* Discussion thread

Both Intellipoint and Intellitype were updated last week..............

Re: DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_* Discussion thread

Strange, 100815 already has an \A5\ and it's one day newer than the one you added.  Did I forget to upload my version? hmm
Umm, I just checked your version and there is no folder \A5\. (Did you forget something too?)
I'm updating my local copy now, just tell me where you got the Dell drivers and I'll update the first post with my copy.
So far I have:

You are amazing... THANKS

Re: DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_* Discussion thread

Some thoughts about HID pack. There are standard PS/2 hwids: some *pnp03xx for keyboards and some *pnp0Fxx for mice. All of them is in msmouse.inf and keyboards.inf of Windows source. And you will find some drivers with standard hwids in HID pack. If you install Windows with HID pack on PC with standard PS/2 keyboard (for example my simple BTC-5211A with *pnp0303 hwid), you will see in Device Manager "PS/2 Keyboard (106 Keys Ctrl+Caps)". This is Logicool driver from D\3\H\LS folder, newer signed driver of all in pack. If will be newer signed driver in hid pack in future, then it will be installed instead, etc. Keep this in mind when adding a drivers to pack please. You can remove inf files with standard hwids or comment out standard hwids in inf files.

About the touchpads. Many of them have the unique hwids (*SYNxxxx for Synaptics, *SNYxxxx for Sony Alps, *DLLxxxx for Dell Alps etc). But many of them have standard PS/2 hwids also. If you install Windows with HID pack on laptop with standard ps/2 touchpad (*pnp0fxx), newer signed driver will be installed again, regardless of your touchpad vendor. I have this happened more than once, the Alps driver was installed instead ps/2 Synaptics and the cursor will not move.

What to do in this case? To comment out all generic ps/2 hwids in inf files, you say. But the problem is that all touchpad unique hwids are compatible with ps/2 hwids (you will see if you'll open details tab of touchpad properties in device manager, see are compatible hwids). After editing the inf file it will be unsigned and Windows setup will install signed msmouse.inf driver. Vicious circle.

Re: DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_* Discussion thread

Editing all the .inf files is a LOT of work.  And what if you replace the drivers in a folder with a newer set which alters the HWID list (add/remove) then you'll have to go through and uncomment the HWIDs that are missing.  I (and many of the team) have been working under the policy of leaving the .inf (and driver signing) intact whenever possible and only editing the HWIDs to prevent a problem-causing conflict.  Once a problem is reported, then we break driver-signing if there is no other solution.  Sure, there are loads of duplicates then, but Windows setup does a pretty good job of sorting them out on its own.
That's just my policy, but it's worked for us in the past.

Re: DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_* Discussion thread

I'm having issues with the driver for a Synaptics touchpad on an HP ProBook 4420s.

ACPI\SYN0168

The buttons are part of the touchpad similar to newer apple laptops. This causes the pointer to jump around when a finger is resting on the button.

This issue is somewhat improved by installing the following driver:

Re: DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_* Discussion thread

The newest Synaptic driver is v15.2.7 (includes "Scrybe") directly from here: http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers
I'm toying with the idea of merging all the \S*\ folder .inf files into one using this new driver to save space.
Has anyone tried this new driver yet?  Does anyone WANT to stick with the individual OEM folders?
I'll put together a TEST pack for people to try.  I want to make sure my idea works before committing the change to the final.

Re: DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_* Discussion thread

I've tested this Synaptics test pack on both my notebooks (Acer Netbook from 2010 and Gateway from 2003) and both install fine.
I did not include the "Scrybe" folder.
Please test and let me know what you think.

Well I haven't had any problems with the testpack I posted above.  Has ANYONE else tried it?
I'll wait until a few others test it before I implement it.

No reports yet on my "merged" Synaptics test pack?
Well, no news is good news I guess.  I'll move this to the main pack.
