Thank you.
We would prefer if you linked directly to the manufacturer's website or another legitimate source.
Besides, I just updated these not long ago.
Have you tried our DriverPack WLAN 10.05?
My apologies for this. I thought I'd consolidate just what you needed for simplicity. My problem is that I need the Win XP 32-bit driver for UBCD4WIN, however, ASUS only has the drivers on their site for Windows 7. The driver files I provided were actually downloaded from another site that provides drivers in general. Please let me know if you would okay with a link to that site. Thanks much. I did test these in UBCD4WIN and they work great.
To answer your question, yes, I just installed all the latest packages and rebuilt my UBCD4Win with all the new driver packages and the network LAN and WLAN were not recognized. By the way, almost all the driver packs that were downloaded by the BASE program were corrupted. I had to manually download them and place them in the appropriate folder. Not sure why that happened.
[EDIT] I downloaded this one from here: http://www.nodevice.com/driver/AR9285/get64221.html
You'll have to enter a verification code and click Download.

That driver is older than the one provided in DriverPack WLAN. Can you post your HWIDs please?
Here you go.
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_10891A3B&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_10891A3B
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&CC_0280
I wonder why the card isn't recognized by the newer driver. I'll have to try to load it manually and see if it's there.
I wanted to follow up after getting the latest driver packs, after this most recent update, and this adapter is now recognized. Thanks so much.
Thanks for the feedback. Have a great day!
Hi,
I ran into a strange thing today. I rebuilt my boot disk with the latest driver packs and now when I boot, my wireless isn't recognized. Device Manager shows "Network Controller" with an exclamation point.
If I right-click, select Update Driver and then have it try to install the driver automatically, it detects two Atheros 9285s. I wondered about the one ending in X, i.e., ATHWX.SYS and the INF file seems to indicate it's for AMD processors.
Any ideas why the device isn't being recognized after the refresh? Can having that second driver for AMD be the problem? Any ideas? When I add the correct one, i.e., ATHW.SYS, it installs but I don't get the wireless device under Network Connections and I can't get it added or configured which is very strange.

I don't know where you are finding the athwx.sys because we have never included it. It's for Win9x systems.
;Abstract:
; INF file for installing Atheros AR5008 Wireless Network Adapter
;
; Installs athw.sys (NDIS 5/5.1 driver) on NT platforms (2000, XP and greater)
; Installs athwx.sys (NDIS 5 driver) on 9x platforms
I'm updating the wlan atheros drivers today.
It was in the BartPE's os respective drivers folder along with the respective INFs in the INF folder. I was wondering why they were even there. Let me know if you want me to test the wlan driver packs.
I just poked into the netathwx.inf file and at the very top I saw the NTAMD64 line which made wonder why it was there.

Well, I don't know where that file came from because I went back through all our DriverPack WLAN archives and that file doesn't exist going back all the way to the 8.05 release. It must have been added by someone else, not by the DriverPacks team.
That .inf is for x64 builds. You should remove it from where ever you found it.
I'm planning on doing another clean build after you've had a chance to update the wlan pack. I'll make sure those files are gone. Thank you.
Here you go.

Same issue here in the XP driver packs version 10.09. Same hardware IDs as posted above. The card is based on the Atheros 9285 chipset.

So what driver works for you then? Let me know and I'll have a look at it.
Thanks for the response. The machine is an HP ProBook 4420s.
The following driver works:

I was incorrect. Vendor and Device IDs are the same but subsys is different. Not sure if that matters or not.

I know this is a stupid question, but I have to ask.
Was your wifi switched 'on' during install?
I have a newer version in a testing build. Please stand by...
Yes, wifi was enabled during install. These laptops don't have a physical switch but they do have a Fn key for turning wifi on and off. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
thanks you all guys. You all are amazing.
