Topic: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

Hi,

I get the following error when testing on VMWare. It seems the 7z files are not being expanded from the OEM folder on the CD to the C: drive.

2006-08-30 20:25:17 : <CRIT> The DriverPacks root directory in the settings file doesn't contain a valid DriverPacks directory structure!

Some thoughts, would the amount of available RAM (256MB) or Hard Disk space (2.5GB free space) prevent the extraction of the 7z files to the C: drive?

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

Nope it should not. And I need the actual slipstream log, not the log of just starting the GUI...

Please also post your DPs_BASE.ini and DPsFnshr.ini.

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

Hi,

tried again using default runonce ID, with same result. This time the 7z files have been extracted to the C: drive.

Note: I use the following partition scheme to custom install to
C: contains Windows folder
D: contains pagefile.sys
E: conatins Program Files and System Files\Environment\Users (Documents and Settings)

Hi,

The DPsFnshr.log is the same as the one I posted previously. ie they contain the same information, no differencies except the time of logging.

That's impossible!

You will find that file in the root dir of the machine you installed your UWXPCD onto.

Please double-verify.

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

Hi,

I checked again, the log is the same except for the log line timestamps. Are you saying that the hardware detection application should detect different hardware on an unchanged system every time it runs? If so, then I will do another check if you feel it necessary.

Compare this to the last DPsFnshr.log I posted, the only difference this time (except log line timestamps) is the line :-

2006-09-02 00:40:42 : <CLNP> Deleted 'C:\ATICCP.ins'!

This maybe due to the change of OS and disabling DriverPack Mass Storage text mode, I don't know. However, I don't think that, given the same OS as source, the same settings and the same target installation system, it is so impossible to have the same info logged to DPsFnshr.log.

Hi

That's impossible!

Just thought I would do the impossible one more time. Same settings as last post.

So, same result as last post. Same log files as last post, except log line timestamps.

Guess I'll wait a few more versions and try again.

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

I unchecked DriverPacks Mass Storage text mode.

It will slipstream them into text mode regardless I believe - RogueSpear has started a BugTracker on here.... just so you know, although I am unaware whether this is just with the API mode [i.e. using AutoImage with Bâshrat the Sneaky DP] or not.

This was due to an incorrect setting in RogueSpear's dynamically generated .ini file (he set it to "all" instead of "select"). He's already solved it I believe.

Through this a bug on my side has been uncovered though: if DriverPack MassStorage is NOT present, the DriverPack Sound B tries to slipstream it as text mode drivers neverthesless.

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

hehe I was refering to the Text Mode part - the select and all aspect was different I believe [i.e. tries to slipstream all DriverPacks even if some are missing/not in the folder].

With the text mode intergration, whether you chose it or not, it would still slipstream - but that was in AutoImage... can't say whether its the BASE or AutoImage's problem - but all i saw in the intergration process / log was the text mode MS drivers being slipstreamed even though it wasn't ticked in AutoImage.... but he may have sorted that.

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

Forgot to add that I get a pop up when first logging into windows saying something similar to:

The DriverPacks root directory in the settings file doesn't contain a valid DriverPacks directory structure!

But it doesn't last very long so didnt get much of a chance to read it hehe

I notice that the DriverPacks Finisher window is in the background when this popup occurs.

Dont know if this is related or not...

Can't find any log on the machine to show you however.... appart from the one at the root of the drive [C]:

2006-09-05 12:00:54 : <INIT> DriverPacks Finisher 6.08.6 initialized.

2006-09-05 12:00:55 : Program terminated.

I did start DPsFnshr.exe manually afterwards tho, so I dont know whether this has any bearing on this log or not.

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

I've taken a screenshot of it this time around if you want it Bâshrat the Sneaky...

and also, if I choose GUIRunOnce as the finishing method, I dont get any errors [except that if I look at the C drive afterwards, I see that the driverpacks and finisher hasn't been cleared up after a reboot].

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

Hi there,

I have the same error like niche99, both in normal Cd as in Multiboot DVD.

I use GUIrunOnce  as finishing mode, and only use the MassStorageDrivers.
The DriverPacks root directory in the settings file doesn't contain a valid DriverPacks directory structure, is this a bad error ? I upgraded to
the new version yesterday.

Is it save tot remove the DPsFnshr.exe from the section.

[GuiRunOnce]
command9="%SystemDrive%\DPsFnshr.exe"

Hope that you can help me

Where did the "ROE.exe" entry go?

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

Hello Bâshrat,

In and older version is see the ROE.exe in cmdlines.txt.
in the latest version I don't see it anymore. Neither is the ROE.exe in my setup folder.

What is the ROE.exe file doing ?

Thanks

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

It's only used when you choose RunOnceEx as your Finisher method. It adds an entry to the registry to make sure the Finisher is executed by DPsFnshr.exe, the number behind it allows you to manipulate the order in which possible other RunOnceEx commands will be executed.

Re: [SOLVED] DriverPack Finisher error using ROE

i have a similar problem. i'm using all official driverpacks and also a couple of custom-built ones. method 2 and runeonceex. the instalation works fine, the dirvers are unpacked to C:\D folder, but when the finisher program runs it sais the directory structure is wrong. i tried to use the KTD feature because i have a lot of printer drivers that i need on my system

;
; REMARKS
;
; =============================================================================
; -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
; About adding your own exceptions
; -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
;
; - The following system variables are supported:
;  * %SystemDrive%
;  * %SystemRoot%
;  * %WinDir%
;  * %ProgramFiles%
;  * %DPSROOT% (equals the value of [Settings]\DPsRoot)
; * %DPSTMP% (when you must extract files for example)
;
; - Available executables:
;  * addUsepmtimer.exe
;  * devcon.exe
;
; - The unique ID in the sectionnames (i.e.: [<OS platform>__<unique ID>__
; <driver dir, including the master 'D' dir>]) must NOT be sequential, it
; must just be unique. Only numbers (0-9) can be used. The reason for the
; existence of this string is that sometimes there are multiple exceptions
; for the same driver, which would result in identical section names, which
;   is not allowed.
;
; - A requirement of the type 'tagFiles' is considered forfilled if ALL of the
;   listed conditions are met.
;
; - A requirement of the types '+hwids', '-hwids', '+infFiles' and '-infFiles'
; is considered forfilled if ANY of the listed conditions is met.
;
; - The commands will ONLY be executed if ALL the active requirements are
;
; - The commands will be executed in the order they are entered.
;
;
; -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
; About the implementation of KTD
; -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
;
; - To optimize the DevicePath entry in the registry (to allow more drivers to
; be added), a new system variable will be created, which will accessible
; through the variable %KTD%. The result is that each path that is added
; (that refers to a driver), will be much shorter - and therefore this allows
; more drivers to be added.
