Re: Graphics DriverPacks finally updated! (Finally...)

Well, by my count (and I'm being generous!) Nvidia has 5 'unified' driversets to cover their product line.
Unified my A$$ sad

1) Keep driver signing intact, and hope we don't blue-screen at T-34.

Who dares, wins, eh?
We might try. Means, no work now but work when BS occur and are being reported.

2) Break driver signing, but guarantee no blue-screens.

Never got the big deal about signed drivers anway.
Ok, users need to disable the SignedDriversPolicy to not have the signed ones (but possibly older) be preferred over newer, but personally, I see no loss in doing so.
OTOH, means the INFs need to be restructured to drop off duplicates.
This is to be repeated each time a new version is released that splits off some more HW, right?

3) Drop hardware from the supported list.

Not a valid option if we stick to our "all drivers, all HW included" policy.
Moving them off to the legacy pack doesn't fix the problem unless you were to only use that DPG pack (and not have several versions of split driver in there, either).

Personal tendency towards 2) with a "why not give 1) a try first" hint.

You forgot 4), though, send a silent assassins squad to NV HQ and have them take care of the problem properly... wink

Re: Graphics DriverPacks finally updated! (Finally...)

Ninjas vs. the Green Goblin of NV?

I'd pay a dollar to see that!

Especially if you talk about old hardware.
Only thing left, what is old hardware then smile.

r.

How about 4a), Nvidia hires me and I fix all this crap once and for all! wink

Seriously though.  I'm moving through all three DriverPacks and weeding out dups where I can on folders that already have driver-signing 'bent' (like mobility.inf or nv4_go.inf).
I'm also adding a few folders to cover gaps in ATI/Nvidia (I'm a glutton for punishment).
As soon as I'm done, I'll upload ALL the graphics DriverPacks and additionals (PhysX/Lang).

Re: Graphics DriverPacks finally updated! (Finally...)

the only problem I had was on a driver install, apparently there was a plug-in missing, so it just took out the rhapsody player and created errors in it, so I removed it -pending something new.. I nnd my music,  I see your working on some stuff...be waiting on  it...Thanks
