Topic: [SOLVED BUG #214] [slipstreamer] Non-standalone version of 7zip includ

Hi

I would like to make a copy of my original XPCD with SATA-Drivers. Maybe I did something wrong?

1. Copy DriverPack Chipset 6.08 and Mass Storage 6.03.1 to Directory Driver Packs (in DP-Base)
2. Execute DP-Base
3. Directory F:\XPCD (Copy of XP with SP2 on HDD)
4. Chose all available Driver Packs
5. Chose Method 2
6. Chose GUI RunOnce
7. Enable KTD for All...
8. Enable QuickStream Cache
9. Execute Slipstrem
10. Error appears
"Critical Error: Could not extract necessary files for method 2"

I`ve searched the FAQ and the Feedback&Support but i couldn`t find an answer. Maybe you can help me. thx

Please verify that you have the file 'bin\wnt5_x86-32\M2.7z'.

Nope, i haven`t got the path. It is: 'bin\M2.7z'

Re: [SOLVED BUG #214] [slipstreamer] Non-standalone version of 7zip includ

Oh, sorry, yes that's correct. The path I mentioned is for DriverPack Sound B 6.08.

Re: [SOLVED BUG #214] [slipstreamer] Non-standalone version of 7zip includ

Could it be that the prog doesn't work with my OS (WinME) or what else could it be? I have tried almost everything :-(

Re: [SOLVED BUG #214] [slipstreamer] Non-standalone version of 7zip includ

Eh... That's possible I guess.

Lots of respect for you, poor ME user.... Been there, done that. Could not reproduce it for you though. My only suggestion is that you use a different OS, lol. (It's also possible that the CLI version of 7zip does not work as expected when executed in Windows ME...)

Oh dear!

If I was given the choice between 98SE and ME, I'd take 98SE any day over ME.

Back then, I was using both, and I can't say I was too fond of either (boy was I glad when 2k came out!).
However, I still have a 98SE CD, while I trashed the ME one.
That gotta tell you, eh? wink

As it happens to be, I just installed 98SE on Virtual PC.
And although the "hardware" comes straight form MS so to speak, I still managed to get a rundll error straight after first boot as well as an exception handling when opening IE for the first time.
Also, trying to update to IE 6 gave me an error message before it would work after some retries.

If that doesn't tell you something IDK what will...

Suffice to say support from MSFT has ended by July 11th or so, meaning that no security updates will ever be released.
Going online with that thing (while not running in a virtual environment) is just begging for problems!

PS: In case you wonder why I'm doing this:
A cousin of mine has problems running some older games on XP and after fiddling around with the compatibility settings for a good 15min I decided this was the easier way to go - and so it looks!

Re: [SOLVED BUG #214] [slipstreamer] Non-standalone version of 7zip includ

Hey Guys,
I have the same problem , but I'm running Windows XP Home.  SP1

My log looks exactly the same as well.

Any other thoughts on this issue?

Thanks

Re: [SOLVED BUG #214] [slipstreamer] Non-standalone version of 7zip includ

Same problem here.  Log is similar as well.  Also, I'm getting some graphical distortion - the different options seem to overlap as one goes through the settings tree.  Rolled back to 6083 and all is well.

Re: [SOLVED BUG #214] [slipstreamer] Non-standalone version of 7zip includ

I had some graphical distortion as well.

I'll try downgrading.

Re: [SOLVED BUG #214] [slipstreamer] Non-standalone version of 7zip includ

That worked for me as well.

Thanks

Re: [SOLVED BUG #214] [slipstreamer] Non-standalone version of 7zip includ

"Could not extract necessary files for method 2"
I get the same exact error with the new 6.08.4 BASE...

I have found that replacing the bin\7z.exe file with the old one from 6.08.3 BASE solves the issue.

Possible a corrupt 7z.exe file got packed with the new BASE??
(Nope, I just extracted the 7z.exe file from a fresh download of the 7zip installer file... with the same results)
... Incompatible???
