Topic: Sound device detected wrongly in Compaq Presario V2000

I use all the updated driverpacks including DP_Sound_B_wnt5_x86-32_712.7z and DP_Sound_A_wnt5_x86-32_712.7z in a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop LAN & VGA detected correctly and works fine. Sound was detected as Realtec AC 97 audio (with an exclamation mark in the device manager) where it suppose to be conexant. Please have a look at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/soft … mp;lang=en. I shall be thankful if this could be sorted out. Thanks in advance.

do not use sound A

the realtek driver in there seems to have several generic HWID
S_A\S\R\1\Alcxau.inf has PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&CC_0401

the full HWID of your compaq is not duplicated across the packs, and resides in sound B

Should we not kill all the generics?

debugger may know what this CC_0401 does (probably about a mode to operate in?), but the HWID itself is generic.

Thanks a lot jack. Let me try your suggestion at some point. Actually this is personal laptop and I mainly used as a test machine. I do have all the drivers and I actually l and see if it works fine before deploying elsewhere.

as a quick fix, you could un7zip soundA
get to the folder R1, and delete S\R1\Alcxau.inf
then 7zip the INI and D folder .

\R1\Alcxau.inf contains nothing but generics like yours. (and is WDM, rather than WHQL)

use conexant ac link drivers from hp...it got fixed.
