Topic: Is this even legal?

http://www.radarsync.com/vista/ has a page with the title "Free Vista Drivers".

Problem is, when you visit the page you find that this is not true and they want you to pay $30 a year to download the drivers!

Clearly, they are not free and shouldn't be advertised as such.

Their info contradicts itself, it says:

This page lists the latest Windows Vista drivers and provides direct links to the files for downloads. We're offering this as a free service to the community, to help you all get through this challenging period of Vista-transitioning.

Note: Free links have been temporarily disabled. In the meantime, you can try our free check (based on our patent-pending technology) to find out exactly which of these Vista drivers your computer needs.

Is it even legal to sell other manufacturers drivers like this?

I don't think so somehow.

I wanted to start collecting Vista drivers.

I will have to manually search Google for all the names of all the devices they list. sad

Re: Is this even legal?

Over a month later, http://www.radarsync.com/vista/ still says "Note: Free links have been temporarily disabled." So they are still selling free drivers from their website! Its not legal.

Probabaly not, but what do you expect us to do about it other than to deprecate them for their actions?

Of course, you could go ahead and litigate them, if you want to, but what are the chances of success in that?
And what is YOUR gain?

If you really want to, I suggest you write an email to one of the companies of which they offer the drivers for sale explaining them the whole situation and hoping their legal department will take care of it.
If it's a big company, it's rather likely they have the means and the money to do so.

If you are lucky, you'll get a "thank you" from the company and maybe even a hardware gift (seeing as it's holiday season and all).

It's your call, but I'm sure we all support whatever actions you take, buddy smile

Re: Is this even legal?

I don't understand the issue here...
They are not selling the drivers them self... But rather are selling a membership to their service...

There are no legal issues with that (unless they provide a Copywriten driver... which I've only seen 1 or 2 out of the thousands of hardware devices).
