Topic: Tweaks for MassStorage 7.06.7 version

Review of possible tweaks of DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_7067:
1.    Ten obsolete files with name TXTSETUP.OEM in various folders;
2.    A lot of obsolete *.vxd files (VxD drivers for Windows’98) still present in various folders;
3.    Drivers in \D\M\H\6\2K3\ folder are not for Windows XP;
4.    Obsolete C++ debug file \D\M\AR\ARCM_X86.PDB;
5.    Obsolete C++ debug file \D\M\L\4\SYMMPI.PDB;
6.    Obsolete C++ debug file \D\M\SI\2\SISRAID.PDB;
7.    Obsolete C++ debug file \D\M\SI\3\SISRAID2.PDB;
8.    Obsolete C++ debug file \D\M\SI\4\SISRAID4.PDB;
9.    Files \D\M\V\3\VIDEX64.CAT, VIDEX64.SYS, XFILTX64.SYS are not for Windows x32;
10.    Files \D\M\V\4\VIACCX64.CAT, VIDEINSTX64.DLL, VIBUSX64.SYS, VIPRTX64.SYS SYS are not for Windows x32;
11.    Delete Read-only/Hidden/System attributes from all files;
12.    Would recommend to use these command line switches to compress MassStorage driver pack: 7za.exe a -r -t7z -m0=BCJ2 -m1=LZMA:d26:fb255:a2:lc7:mf=bt3 -m2=LZMA:d19:fb128:a2:lc0:lp2:mf=bt3 -m3=LZMA:d19:fb128:a2:lc0:lp2:mf=bt3 -mb0:1 -mb0s1:2 -mb0s2:3 DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_7067.7z

Re: Tweaks for MassStorage 7.06.7 version

Okay.  I have deleted all the files from tweaks 1, 2, and 4-10.  I have also removed the read-only, system, and hidden attributes from all files and folders (tweak 11).  I didn't do step 3 because the DriverPacks supports drivers for Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.

Question on Step 12:  What would using those command line switches do different than how this DriverPack is currently compressed?

jtdoom,

Please let me know where I could post the finished product from these tweaks.  Thanks.

Re: Tweaks for MassStorage 7.06.7 version

hi
most txtsetup.OEM files are still in on purpose.
(a usable list of HWIDS.)
Because of overlap in HWIDs, some INF files have been changed, see. And when an update comes along I want to compare lists.

The debug files are indeed not referenced.
We can get rid of the X64, and vxd files, but the setuperr log will then show missing files.
(no big deal, but in extreme cases it could trigger a pop-up)

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Okay.  I see what you mean.  I'll leave my MassStorage DriverPack as is.  Thanks for the info, jtdoom.
