Topic: M-Audio an AC'97

I have 2 M-Audio Delta 1010LT cards in my PC. I'm having trouble with a Leadtek TV card. If I disable the M-Audio cards the Leadtek/Winfast software runs ok. It works fine with the onboard sound.

The system requirements say 'AC 97 compatible sound card/chipset for audio playback'.

Can someone tell me if my M-Audio are AC'97 compatible. I'm not sure about what AC'97 means in relation to my M-Audio cards. My onboard sound has AC'97 hence why it works with the TV Card.

Would the Driverpack sound help?

Thanks.

Re: M-Audio an AC'97

Sounds like a conflict between your M-audio sound card and your Leadtek TV card.  Since you verified that the TV card works fine with your onboard sound, we can only assume your M-audio card is configured incorrectly.  Most TV cards use a 'loop-through' audio cable connection, did you move that over to the M-audio card?  Also, you may need to disable the onboard audio first before adding the new audio card.  Without knowing more about your system, this could turn into "try this...try this..." all day long.

AC97 is just a standard, it means "Audio Codec, 1997".  Every modern sound device supports it.

Make sure your hardware is all detected properly.  Check your device manager for conflicts, and ensure all the factory drivers are loaded.

The Driverpacks themselves will only help you create a slipstreamed Windows source, not resolve hardware conflicts.

Re: M-Audio an AC'97

Thanks for the response.

A bit of history.
I've had 2 M-Audio cards installed and running for about 2 years now. I do alot of multitrack recording hence why I have them. I've never had any problems. My onboard audio has always be disbaled in the BIOS (I did use it initially just to make sure it worked ok but then disabled it). I can have both the onboard sound and M-Audio cards installed and they both work. I've the latest drivers for everything and all XP updates. Device manager shows everything ok.

Any other clues?
