Topic: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

Hi Bashrat,

this board is based on P965 chipset and has the ADI 1988B HD Audio chipset on board. After installing Windows with all your latest driverpacks I have a yellow exclamation mark in device manager in System devices. This device is the HD audio bus:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_284B&SUBSYS_81EC1043&REV_02\3&11583659&0&D8: PCI Device

After installing the KB888111-x86-ENU-forsp2.exe this changes to

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_284B&SUBSYS_81EC1043&REV_02\3&11583659&0&D8: Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio

So there is definitely still a problem with this not only on Sony notebooks (the same happens on my Sony SZ1 nb).

Thanks for your help,
Alex

I have the same problem on Asus A8N-VM CSM (look at the end of this post !)

I just recieved 6 more of those boards... I've already built 2 more of them still with ALL hardware installed with no issue.

twig123 and maxximum,

Hmm... Still having issues with this? are you using RyanVM Updates?... cause I am and have no issues.

No, I am not using RyanVM Updates. This is a blank XP SP2 disc with no other slipstreamed packs etc. Only driverpacks.

Bye,
Alex

Re: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

Same thing for me : french XP without RyanVM updates, only DriverPacks.

Re: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

Please post your svcpack.inf's.

Hm... so what does Ryan's Update pack contain that the driver packs dont?

Re: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

Hi Bashrat,

I had to expand it. It was compressed as an svcpack.in_

Re: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

Is that the EXACT content? Then that's the reason why it doesn't work. It's messed up. Probably because the original svcpack.inf files were encoded in Little Endian, which cannot be converted properly yet. In 6.09 this will be fixed though! A bit more patience please...

P.S.: Microsoft is to blame. Their 'type' command is not capable of converting Little Endian encoded files to ANSI files. All other Unicode encodings can be converted without a hitch. But as I said, it will be solved in 6.09!

Hi Bashrat,

yeah, thats the exact content. Glad to know you are able to fix this ! Thanks ! ;-)

Re: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

SVCPACK.INF was compressed. Once expanded, it's really weird :

???????????????????????????

Re: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

Hi

dunno why RVM fixes svcpack coding translation, but it does.
just tried that with source from CDROM copy, with a version I knew had the issue.

RVM, and then all BPs packs.
sound realtek installed OK

will look wether it has these question marks after I been to the beach

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

He does use the exact same method... asked Siginet myself.

Re: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

If I edit myself SVCPACK.INF, it is ok like this ? :

[Version]
Signature="$Windows NT$"
MajorVersion=5
MinorVersion=1
BuildNumber=2600

[SetupData]
CatalogSubDir="\i386\SVCPACK"

[ProductCatalogsToInstall]
KB888111.CAT
KB921401.CAT

[SetupHotfixesToRun]

KBs KB888111 & KB921401 are the ones slipstreamed by DP BASE 6.08.6 ... I do not add any other ones.

Re: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

Yep that should work.

Re: [SOLVED] Still problem with HDA bus, this time on P5B Deluxe board

I've just installed a fresh XP with hand made SVCPACK.INF (compressed as SVCPACK.IN_), and it WORKS !! smile smile
Sound card is detected and driver installer, and all works fine thanks !! smile smile

And I can tell you this problem is solved in DriverPack Sound B 6.09! wink No more manual editing then.
