Topic: Delete all traces of files and directories

I love having all the drivers now on one disk and it loads perfect. One issue is that I do not want the drivers folder to be left on the pc after the install and some other files /folder it uses. Is there a command or option to clean up after itself ? or what command can i run to delete all of the extra stuff ?

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Which files/folders are you referring to?  During an XP install, DriverPacks Finisher automatically cleans up all the folders after the first restart.
The only files left over are log files which are left on purpose.  If you enabled the KTD option in DriverPacks BASE then all the folders will be left because that's what KTD does.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Oh i see it did clean up some of the files after the reboot. But the third party drivers I added did not clean up and the ini files. I have attached a screen shot.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Hmmm, looks like something didn't work right and broke the DriverPacks Finisher execution.  Double-click DPsFnshr.exe and let it run.  That'll fix it.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

odd it does it on any install. What i found is that it has to do with the sound drivers as they are in the 3rd party drivers but do not install correctly as they are all missing it. Well that is my guess is that it is the sound drivers as it will not finish the third party drivers so i assume something wrong there.  I will just take it out and see if it finishes the clean up. Your thoughts ?

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

one more quick question is there a way i could make it to where it puts a folder on the root c and has some files in it that i load on every computer ?

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

What sound drivers are you trying to use?  If we're missing them, we could add them.
It's also likely that something broke your GUIRunOnce/RunOnceEx DriverPacks Finisher execution.  We have no way to tell because you haven't posted your DPs_BASE.log or DPsFnshr.log.

You can use the $OEM$ folder method.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Well it is always dell IDT audio drivers but a post did say it was fixed but on dell620 and 630 it failed. ALso how do i attach an image

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

You can use a image hosting service like tinypic.com or imageshack.com and enclose the link in [ img ] tags.
Is that on a Dell Latitude D630 notebook you have problems?  I have those at work, I can test on one of them next week.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Yes it is the latitude d630 and d620. I found this odd as i did not put the custom drivers but used the modem pack and then the misc. pack i found in the downloads section and it did not clean up after them either.

Also i know newbie question where do i get the two logs you mentioned. I checked the dps_base.log which i found in the DriverPacks folder but the other one i can not find on the pc i ran the base dp or the client machine. It did not remove third party drivers.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Well, assuming you didn't modify your source after integrating with DriverPacks, then the log file would be at the root of your source directory: "C:\Users\*****\Desktop\windows xp sp3"
Or in the backup directory: Create a DPs_Base.log backup @ C:\Users\******\Desktop\drivers pack\LogFiles\DPs_BASE_12-08-10_09-24.log
The other logs are found by reading the Read BEFORE you post. link in my signature. wink

finisherMethod    = "GUIRunOnce"
This method modifies the winnt.sif file.  If you run nlite AFTER integrating DriverPacks BASE, then nlite will corrupt the install.  This is specifically why we say to integrate DriverPacks LAST before finalizing the .iso.

BTW, the CPU DriverPacks are all obsolete since they were incorporated into DriverPack Chipset about 2 years ago.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Okay i will redo my load and do some more testing. I did add to the winnt.sif as I did not see repartition and auto activate . I guess that could be what broke it.

could that have cause the issue with the IDT drivers ?

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

If you can post your DPsFnshr.log or at the very least post your HWIDs for the target system, I'll look into the audio issue.
I'm sure we already fixed that one.
*Edit.
Yes, I thought so.  The driver you need is in DP_Sound_B_wnt5_x86-32_1111\D\S\Ie\

Ie\ SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC (Dell), from DriverVer=05/10/2007, 5.10.0.5515 to 12/18/2008, 5.10.0.5921

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

I downloaded both of the drivers pack DP sound a and b. That is why i thought something was not right as i download them both but does not install correctly. I will try just base load of drivers only. . For some reason i am not getting email replies. are you the owner of the board and site  ? I have a proposal.

I will receive any email sent to admin -at- DriverPacks.net.  But so will the other two admins: Wim & Jeff.  Wim is the owner.
We haven't received any email to the admin box since June.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

I sent an email to the email address mentioned and no reply. I am back to testing on d620 as it is the same driver chipset as you mentioned before. I am waiting on result as I did the driverpack last and just used the winnt.sif made by nlite. I will let you know my results.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Okay this is very barebones with windows updates, winnt.sif , and all driverpacks but video. It still has issues with audio device on high definition audio bus. Which is the IDT audio but it did erase the old drivers which is good , even the third party modem and misc. I will have to test with drivers i setup.

I know you said the drivers was inserted but i think there is an issue.

I am unable to post the other logs as it says i exceed the post length limit.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

The DPsFnshr.log can be split into 2 or 3 posts.  Or you can upload it to a free service like pastebin.

The system picked a newer driver than the one that is known to work.
To get your sound back you'll need to "force load" the driver in DP_Sound_B_wnt5_x86-32_1111\D\S\Ie\

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Force load ? I am sorry what does that mean just load driver from manufacture?

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Open device manager and right-click the sound controller with the problem and select "update driver".
Click the option to "Install from a specific location".
Select "Don't search, I will choose..."
Click the "Have disk" button, click "browse" and navigate to where you extracted DP_Sound_B_wnt5_x86-32_1111\D\S\Ie\
Follow the on screen instructions and keep clicking 'OK' as needed.
Done.

Re: Delete all traces of files and directories

Okay i thought it was that way but just wanted to be sure. I am okay though with just a sound driver not found. I will use the method to include it in the folder to put on the hard drive.
