Topic: [SLVD] W2K3 Setup in TXT and GUI mode will not restart, and BSOD

Hello I'm French sorry for my Englisch
first off thanks for all the great work you do.
I'am a Co-Developper from a french Unattend and we have integrated your DPMasstorage 12.03 for the news version of our Unattend.

We have problem with the installation of W2k3 im PC with SATA HDD im AHCI mode. (see my HWID under).

The probleme is :
im TXT setup mode we can Format and copy all files,at the end the txt setup may reboot but i don't.
I have a blue screen (TXT setup mode not BSOD) with "your PC will restart (im French : redémarrage du PC".

If i reboot manuelly with the Reset Button the installation of W2k3 go to next step : the GUI mode
At the end of the GUi mode (T-0) i have a black screen with the Mouse cursor and the PC will not restart automatically.

If i reboot manuelly with the Reset Button the Windows start Up but i Have a BSOD !

I think these probleme come's from DP Masstorage (the user have 2 choice instal normal or install with DP (integrations of  DP mastorage + TXT mode driver).
for the normal install we have no problem's

For the DP install and SATA HHD in IDE mode we have no problem's.

Do you have an Idea ?

im trying with the news driver of chipsets AMD 870 + SB850 (12.04)

PS im make the HWID with a Win7x64 system (Dual boot : Win7 x64 or W2k3(Trust))

The AMD driver we use for your HWID is DriverVer=10/04/2011,1.2.001.0317

If you find one that is more compatible, let us know and I'll try to fit it in.

The test is not good with the new driver 1.2.001.0321 in AHCI Mode.

I come back with esperience with Masstorage 12.01.

The auto restart im TXT setup mode and GUI Mode is OK (i'm not need to manualy reset).
After the installation i have BSOD am Windows startup.

Next step i trie with Masstorage 11.08

Hello Masstorage 11.08 is not good for me..

I have tried with 11.06 and is works fine.
if i see the log change; i see change in AMD....

My problems comes from the change in AMD SB after DP Masstorage 11.06

Can wou help me ?

OK, just to confirm that for you dpms 11.06 works good but all versions after that do not work.

Are you sure you're using Win2k3?  If you're seeing ahcix86.sys then you're using XP.  Win2k3 uses amd_sata.sys.

Yes I confirm (with a second install) that the DP Masstorage 11.06 works fine with my Unattend.
For all Test i have integrated (with DPBase 10.06) the driver in TXT mode and in first launch of GUI i have only checked the DP Mastorage "button".

Yes I confirme that my Unattend is based of W2k3 system (but under windows we have 2 mode : Mode w2k3 or Mode simulate XP).
I d'ont think that the simulate XP is recognized im TXT setup mode....why for simulate the XP mode we wroten in Register.

My communauty give me back that we have no problem's with DriverPack MassStorage 12.03 and :
[*]Intel(R) 5 Series-3400 Series Chipset Family[/*]
[*]HDD Sata2, MB Asus P5Q, BIOS configuré in AHCI - Chipset Intel P45 + ICH10R[/*]

But we have problem with :

If you're seeing ahcix86.sys then you're using XP.  Win2k3 uses amd_sata.sys

I don't find these but i have search for my HWID in DP Masstorage 11.06, and i find 4 folder :
AM0
AM2
AM4
AM9

and for the 4 file i have w2k3..

The AM2 folder with ahcix86 is for :
AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller Driver
the AM9 folder with ahcix86 is for :
AMD SATA AHCI Controller Driver   --> this paste with my config !

Yes, I understand all that.  But the txtmode driver for your w2k3 setup is being pulled from AM4.  The XP txtmode driver is from AM9.

Oh, and you can't trust VirtualBox for accurate hardware tests, you need to test on real hardware.

So, just to confirm again, your textmode options work fine with all dpms versions but you get BSOD at first reboot?
Are you sure you're checking the two boxes for dpms in DriverPacks BASE?  Select the dpms version AND Textmode!
If textmode works with all versions then the problem is not in the dpms .ini file but in the driver folders themselves.

No i check only Textmode because my unattend already have other dp (LAN, Chipset and WLAN), then we have the right setup.exe (setuporg.exe) and presetup.cmd

If textmode works with all versions then the problem is not in the DriverPack MassStorage .ini file but in the driver folders themselves.

Yes the Textmode works with all version fron DPM11.06 to DPM12.03.
But since DPM11.07 the reboot after textmode will not work (in textmode and guimode) and i have BSOD a first launch of Windows (after reboot from GUImode).

sorry if I'm not specific enough, please asked for more detail

Well I'm 95% certain that is your problem.  If you select textmode then you must ALSO select the dpms to include.  The textmode drivers are only available to the system during textmode.  The system then relies on the extracted dpms for the duration of the install.

I have change the DPMxxxx.7z for each test in the directory Presetup

1. make a "ISO" folder without any Driverpack but with the modified setup.exe
2. create the textmode wiht Driverpack and check textmode only
3. change the presetup.cmd to run the driverpack install before the GUImode
4. integration of DPM11.06 into folders PRESETUP, change the driverpack.ini to recognize the right DPMxxx.7z
5. Test in virtualbox
if test ok then test on real hardwar

i test with your recommandation these AM

I have made a ISO with your recommandation ( fully integrate with DPBase : textMode Masstorage and Masstorage).

I have not enaught time to test completly (i hop that i have time tonight) but I could test texte mode setup with real Hardware ...

Text setup mode works, in the choice of partiton I could see the driver used : amd_sata.sys.
The text mode installation went well (format and file copy), but blocking the reboot against !.

So the 1. problem also appears with your method of integration

Paralelle my partner have tested our unattend with DPM12.03 and rename ahci.sys with amd_sata.sys and that works fine.
In the .ini file

Hmm, well that would disable that driver for any OS then.
Does your textmode setup work on that hardware without dpms 12.03 being integrated at all?
If so, then we can just simply remove those entries from the .ini

My Unattend without DP Masstorage integration in Texte mode will not run the second part of texte setup mode (the part who we can choose the partition to install/format).
I have a BSOD (other something like BSOD)

PS my BIOS is set to AHCI mode !
My SSD is SATA

my co-developer (name : Flecky) as fond that :
on the ati site there are two archives, one "AMD Chipset Drivers" and "AMD Raid drivers", and the driver amd_sata.sys is only  on "chipset/sb7xx" archiv.
In the RAID archive that is the ahcix86.sys.
a weird.

then i Mean that :
1. the amd_sata.sys is for sb7xx (Bios set to IDE mode for HDD SATA)
2. the ahcix86.sys is for sb8xx and sb9xx(Bios set to AHCI mode for HDD SATA)

in your version of DriverPack MassStorage, amd_sata.sys driver is used for the SB7xx, SB8xx and SB9xx and we have problem's with SB8xx(me) and SB9xx(Flecky)

Ouch, I do not want to send my pc but I can test all you want.

As Flecky (my co-developper) I have tested with DPM12.03 and renamme the ahcix86.sys to amd_sata.sys but only for text setup mode (not in the 7zip archive).
On real Hardware (Sb8xx)the texte setup mode works and reboot, the GUI setup mode woks and reboot, but at launch windows i have BSOD !
Flecky have not BSOD on SB9xx hes system works complete.

My next test is to rename ahcix86.sys to amd_sata.sys in textesetup mode AND in the 7zip archive.

OK, so same controller but in RAID mode.  Got it.

Hi, now I'm sure the right driver for me is ahcix86.sys for sb8xx (i have one ASROCK 990FX EXTREME 4, sb9xx), the last version is 3.3.1540.26 and maybe it will work also on sb8xx. amd_sata.sys does not work at all for me.
I will teste on raid mode.
