How come the new version is more than 10MB smaller than the previous one?

Did those updated drivers got shrinked considerably by the manufacturers?

I removed one and yes, the drivers got smaller again. It had increased drastically in 6.08 and now it's back to the old level.

Yes. But in the past there were specific drivers for Intel-branded motherboards, now they are no longer necessary, thus I've removed them.
