a black screen on VGA/flat-panel can indicate a faulty CMOS battery on the dv6xxx & dv9xxx series.
Then again it could also be a dud GFX chip. Google "bumpgate".
To confirm: get a linuxLiveCD like 'knoppix' or 'ubuntu' & boot the portable with the disc in the drive & a spare monitor hooked up.
- if you receive a beep code upon POST, note the sequence & reply; you may have a dud graphics chip
- if the machine boots, & the DVD drive light flashes away (hit enter after a time), yet nothing shows on either screens
then you can assure yourself that you have a dud graphics chip.

Hi TechDud thank you for your qiuck reply.
I don't think it is a graphics chip problem the laptop working normally, I built new universal image for XP with most driver packs, when tested the image on it screen went black when setup installing devices after reboot windows boot screen showed up whent it get to welcome screen it go black. rebooted on safe mode uninstalled graphics driver then installed diffrant one from windows update and it worked fine.
I think it a driver problem.
thanks again.

Don't you think you should have put that info in the 1st post?
Please read the "read before you post" in my signature and post your DPs_BASE.log, DPsFnshr.log and HWID list.

Your hardware is not supported in DriverPack Graphics B, it's in DriverPack Graphics C.
DPs_BASE.log please?
HP has a newer driver for your hardware here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/soft … p;sw_lang=
i don't have DPs_BASE.log, i used this method to make my image http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1682
Ugh, I hate sysprep. I feel like we're playing "20 questions".
OK, moving thread to Universal Imaging. Maybe someone else will help you in your non-standard install practices.
