Topic: Quick Question - Best Method

Hi Everyone
I'm a noob around here but loving the DriverPacks idea, wish I had found it sooner.

I'll try and keep this to the point.
Goal: To create a Windows XP (and eventually 7...) installer that will have all the default programs and of course, the driver packs.

To achieve this I folllowed this - http://sites.google.com/site/sysprpeallday/driverpacks (which seems to be stolen from a post here).
Image installed ok but drivers were not detected and couldn't be found when doing a search.

I've seen the main guide here but it's a but long winded, and more of a problem is that theres a lot of discussion around it. It worrys me when a section of the guide says "wrong - see discussion". I don't mind taking the time to go through it but the process of making the changes, sysprepping, imaging, image restoring, testing is not a quick one as you know.

Post I'm refering to is - http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=4849

Anyway, I came accross a post from somebody saying that he created an nlite/driverpacks CD as normal, installed from that image and sysprepped. This method seems much more simpe, too good to be true?

So my questions,
Is there a definitive way to install driverpacks for sysprep?
Is sysprepping from driverpacks installed image a good option?

No looking in detail, but the normal way of integrating driver packs into sysprep is mostly "put these files there - run this - extract that", would it not be quite straight forward to make a script do this?

I know it sounds like I want the easy way and I'm just lazy but I have looked around a lot and just want to make sure I get it right when I have my next stab at it.

If the guide is correct just tell me so and I'll crack on with it, thanks.

I believe there are many ways that people are testing. Some worked fine so far, for some machines, and some still need some updating.

I don't understand your question. But if you mean to prepare your driverpacks and all your stuff (as some tutorials suggest in these Forums : http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewforum.php?id=30 ) before sysprepping a computer yes I think it's a good idea to try.

As to say it's a good option or not that dépends on you to judge smile
