Topic: Realtek BSOD on setup.

Hi
Not sure if this should be here or in the universal imaging section. so sorry if im wrong.

I'm in the process of setting up a Unattended server (http://unattended.sourceforge.net/)
This has a script that uses the output of lspci to get a list of devices it needs drivers for then goes through a directory inspecting all the ini's for the matching drivers - clever!
This is designed to work with Driverpacks and for the majority of time it works flawlessly!

Except for Dell Dimension 1100 - which i believe uses a SoundMax sound card.
The Hardward id's are ven_8086&dev_24d5

I've found that if i remove the following directory
\DP_Sound_A_wnt5_x86-32_1006\D\S\R1
The install goes through but the sound card drivers dont install, these can then be installed manually specifying the soundmax drivers.

If i leave the directory present i get a BSOD while the XP setup installs the devices with the culprit being portcls.sys (this old chestnut!) However if i reboot the setup restarts and goes through, again not installing the sound card drivers and as before i can manually install them.

Any help would be appreciated!
thanks

Re: Realtek BSOD on setup.

What is the full HWID (with subsys) of the soundmax soundcard?

Re: Realtek BSOD on setup.

the full string is
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5&SUBSYS_01D51028&REV_02\3&172E68DD&0&FD

I got the sound car wrong its a ADI 198x intergrated audio not a sound max. But that does not answer why the realtek drivers are causing the bsod sad

Re: Realtek BSOD on setup.

The Realtek \R1\ folder has the generic HWID that covers yours.  That's the problem.
I have the correct driver, I'll add it to DriverPack Sound B 1009
