EDIT:  One difference - the sound device was properly installed and functioning once setup was done.  But again, I got the two blank cmd windows around T-34.

re: the two cmd windows, I think this may be due to two missing exes started by

presetup.cmd

here are the last two lines from an autoimage+driverpacks ris setup

START %WDSP%
START %CDSP%

aka WatchDSP.exe and CloseDSP.exe. I couldn't find any sign of these binaries, presumably they are not part of driverpacks anymore but autoimage still references them??

I have also experienced the same lockup on a Optiplex GX620. I would be interested in trying the 6.05 version. Can you make it publicly available or mail it to me.

If I have time over the next few days I'll look into it a bit further.
