Reloaded SP3 and checked the driver file. Tried to revert to previous version but there was none.  About 5 minutes in, got BSOD with STOP.
I checked the drivers folder - the driver has the same date as original.
One other thing to check- back out SP3 and see if it is stable for longer than 10 minutes (i'll let it go for a few hours).
Next is to get smart on a few terms and use of DriverPacks BASE, etc.(SIS Ref Driver?, SAD folder?). Fortunately not my main machine; unfortunately not enough time to spend on this...
anyway,
Here is what was on the screen:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X0000002A,0X00000006,0X00000000,0X748BAFB)

interesting that the BSOD seems to happen quicker each time-to a  point.  Usually taking about 30 seconds after login.
One other possibility- IRQ problem?
Thanks,
Larry

I didn't install using the Driverpacks; I used what was on the ASUS Utilities CD.
I should note that this computer was running a mirrored RAID setup until a couple of days ago (5+years, minimal problems other than lots of "filler" all over the place.  It needed to be flattened and reloaded.
I did that to only one of the HDD's, the other I haven't touched; i.e. currently the reload is not a RAID setup.

Hello guys, Great site!  I ran into a problem that appears has been solved in reading this thread.  I have an A7n8x-E deluxe MB which has SataLink controller using SI3112r driver.  I'm not using the RAID option. Loaded XPSP3 and I get BSODs.  Rolled back to SP2 and no problems.
Jaak - I realize this is almost 2 years old... but did this driver get updated (see 2-08-08 post)?  I could not find it in the mass storage driver packs.
Thanks!
