Besides the vast amount of extra space available,
the DVD install is actually faster due to higher transfer rates!
(copying is usually twice as fast...)

wink

I just tried the DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_906r1.7z pack on Acer Aspire 5100 and it worked.

The controller was recognized as 3112Rx47 at the partitioning stage (just like the latest official pack), but the GUI setup has started normally, unlike when using 9.01 pack, where I would get a BSOD stop.

Using IDE mode is not that slower at all actually.

Damn it. Thanks for the tips, Jackson0 and theSLug.

we ended up disabling the raid mode in bios (using ide bios setting) and having daily manual backup from one disk to another...

Which file? I was getting corrupted file ahci7xx with the 811B pack, then I tried 810F, but was getting again some errors; after removing all references to ahci7xx in dosnet/txtsetup files, I started getting not enough memory to load ntfs.sys, after removing references to ahci6xx as well the problem was gone.

Hi, I tried the November Beta 2 mass storage driver pack on Windows 2000 Pro (which was previously updated with 8.05 pack).
Setup has failed with the message ahci7xx.sys is corrupted while loading storage drivers. (CD was verified after burning).

I need Matrix Storage support, so I will thy this 810F pack as well, using clean source this time.

Jesus, Silicon Image and nVidia storage drivers... big_smile

Anyways, you guys are doing a tremendous work here with these packs, especially the mass storage one!

When using QuickStream Cache the problem is gone! smile

I just tried this on a root of the partition and the error is the same.

For several versions now I get this error:

"Could not copy Intel Chipset drivers' .inf files from \$OEM$\$1\D\C\I\xp\ to \$OEM$\$$\INF."

--------------------------------------------

So, method one, only chipset pack used here.
I have a vast amount of free space, so that is not an issue.

It could be that there is a typo somewhere since the paths should be:
\xpcd\$OEM$\$1\D\C\I\xp\ to \xpcd\$OEM$\$$\INF

Note: i also noticed that folder 4 is missing .cat file.

Any thoughts on this, Bâshrat?

P.S.Method 1 used.

I think the problem is in the speration of the:
ALi/ULi M5287 SATA/RAID Controller (M1573)
ALi/ULi M5288 SATA/RAID Controller (M1575/M1697)
ALi/ULi M5289 SATA/RAID Controller (M1689/M1567)
...into seperate folders. Yesterday I had an issue where the text mode recognized
friend's M5288 controller, but the GUI setup asked for the location of the .dll file,
and provided C:\d\d\m\au\3 location in the input box (where the location should be
folder 4 instead). I checked the .inf drivers, and it seems that 3, 4 ans 5 folders under
the AU branch all support the all three upper devices, and the each folder is missing some
of the .dll-s their .inf-s offer.
