I have been using this now for about 2 months and to say it is superb would be an understatement! Thank you soooooo much for taking the time to create this wonderful piece of software and of course to all the folks who update the driver packs!

Ok m8 I will do it that way then thanks for all your help buddy!

Cheers buddy!

Thanks buddy!

Thanks for all your help buddy!

I get the following error when trying to download this file

404 File Not Found - SimpleCDN Upload Bucket

Any ideas guys?

Ok m8 so if I am reading this right then I should do the following;

1. Copy DPInst.exe and the .xml file to a seperate folder.
2. Download and extract ALL the Vista packs to this above working folder.
3. Run DPInst.exe with the following command switches - /c /s /sh /lm /el /sa

Now if I wanted to make a self running SAD then I could just make a autorun file.

Thanks m8!

PS - Can we use the new version of DPInst.exe?

Ok m8 no worries wink

You did post it in the wrong forum but we all make mistakes I think it should have been posted under "Other" but don't worry smile a member of staff will probably move it to the correct section.

Did you get a CD with the mouse you bought? If so then the drivers you need will be stored on it simply insert it into your computer and it should autorun.

Base is the DriverPacks Base software which is written for slipstreaming drivers into an installation CD, nLite is a front end GUI for making many customisations to an installation CD. Neither of these you don't need at this time.

You could try doing a repair of your OS by inserting the XP CD and not running the Recovery Console the screen or two after that should allow you to perform a repair which will keep all you data but it may solve your problem.

Or you could try downloading the following tool;

This is virus free so do not worry it will run and then open Notepad with a lot of information in it copy and paste its contents in your next post. What it does is it scans your system and searches all your hardware and comes back with detailed information which may help us solve your problem.

Hope this helps.

So does this mean that the new version of DPinst can be used? Very much a n00b to this part of the packs sad I got XP sorted out though using DP Base but hey ho (sorry little off topic there).

Since they are archived I am not sure on how to use them tbh m8, sorry for being such a pain in the posterior!

I am struggling to find working drivers for x86 and x64 Windows 7. I tried the one for gfx from nVidia in my VM and it would not install.

Please help!

That would be awesome m8, would it be possible for an application to be written to make making a SAD for Windows 7 easier? I know a lot of you guys are working on a Windows 7 tool already big_smile

Ah ok m8 no worries so I will need to read up fully on using DPInst then first before going further I think man this is complicated! I will be wanting to intergrate all the Vista packs stored on DP.net (x86 and x64 versions). So this could take a while.

Great news to hear about the Windows 7 Tool with all of these fantastic minds on board it will go places which the like of nLite/vLite and others could never see (they were still good apps but times change). Times are very interesting indeed!

Thank you m8y very much appreciated, I see that link I gave you has already been used in another thread you pointed me to.

If I am reading right if I make a SAD using DPbase then it will work with Windows7 rather than using the guide shown on MSDN for "Creating a DPInst Installation Package"?

Sorry about all the question buddy sad

Also can I put x86 and x64 on the same DVD or will that screw things up? If I need to make one for x86 and x64 that's not a problem but would be nice to have just one DVD big_smile.

I also see that the Vista Tool project has been dropped so I have no idea on how to go about making a SAD dvd for Windows 7 (x86 and x64) *cries*

Thanks Overflow m8 much appreciated, I will do what you have said and do some reading and hopefully report back see if I can contribute something to the team big_smile

Hey Jeff I did find this on the MSDN site which says that Windows7 WDK has the latest version of DPInst in it (v2.01 I think it is). They have a link to go get the WDK directly from MS so here is a link with more information on it (I am somewhat out of my depth here) ;

Also for some stupid reason (probably my fault) I can not find your tutorial on making a SAD :S sorry m8 could really use some help please.

Hey guys I have seen that you can make a SAD for Vista and as far as I know this should work for Windows 7? But, for my laptop I have pre SP1 drivers for Vista and drivers which are post SP1 for Vista so I am not sure what to use.

Also could we have a tutorial making for how to make a SAD for Vista which works for Windows 7 please?

Thank you all!

PS - Sorry not been around much been somewhat busy!

Making it open source can only be a good thing imho due to the fact that many people can look at it and improve it (like Firefox) best of luck to you dude... now and for the future! wink

Okay, I narrowed it down to 3 DriverPacks.  Bluetooth, Phone, or Scanner.  Since I don't really use these very much (or since the drivers are so easy to grab if I do), I will just leave these out.  I don't think I'm going to do any more weeding out to find out which one was giving me the problems.  This adventure has cost me a far number of dvds already. -_-;;

Just keep in mind, if anyone has similar USB issues, pass on the info!

-Syn ^_^

I have done some testing on these m8 and so far I believe it is the USB pack that is causing the problem, I integrated all the standard driverpacks and all the 3rd party ones except for the USB one and I got USB support in XP like normal. Hope this helps folks! I have no idea what the problem is with the pack sad

Conversion is a pain in the butt indeed. Plus, PunBB is very simple and much faster than vBulletin. It'd still be fast enough, so conversion is the real showstopper.
What features are you missing?

Not missing aything (as far as i know) i put the suggestion in due to the other couple of threads about a new logo for the site and icon for the site. So i thought it might be worth suggesting it (thinking outside the box a little) so no worries big_smile

VB is not free but phpBB is and works in a very similar way to VB but not really used that as much. The conversion bit like you say is a pain in the butt just a thought though.

Hey guys found this driver which aint in the packs here is the link to their site for the driver. Could you please include this into the driverpacks.

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys just a thought but since there are some heavy chages be talked about like the site logo and such then why not move over to something like VBulletin to put the board on? A lot of folks are more familiar with this type of board. Any thoughts on this one.
