I have been using this now for about 2 months and to say it is superb would be an understatement! Thank you soooooo much for taking the time to create this wonderful piece of software and of course to all the folks who update the driver packs!

Ok m8 so if I am reading this right then I should do the following;
1. Copy DPInst.exe and the .xml file to a seperate folder.
2. Download and extract ALL the Vista packs to this above working folder.
3. Run DPInst.exe with the following command switches - /c /s /sh /lm /el /sa
Now if I wanted to make a self running SAD then I could just make a autorun file.

You did post it in the wrong forum but we all make mistakes I think it should have been posted under "Other" but don't worry 
a member of staff will probably move it to the correct section.
Did you get a CD with the mouse you bought? If so then the drivers you need will be stored on it simply insert it into your computer and it should autorun.
Base is the DriverPacks Base software which is written for slipstreaming drivers into an installation CD, nLite is a front end GUI for making many customisations to an installation CD. Neither of these you don't need at this time.
You could try doing a repair of your OS by inserting the XP CD and not running the Recovery Console the screen or two after that should allow you to perform a repair which will keep all you data but it may solve your problem.
Or you could try downloading the following tool;
http://driverpacks.sytes.net/driverpacks/Nightlies/SaveHwids.exeThis is virus free so do not worry it will run and then open Notepad with a lot of information in it copy and paste its contents in your next post. What it does is it scans your system and searches all your hardware and comes back with detailed information which may help us solve your problem.

Ah ok m8 no worries so I will need to read up fully on using DPInst then first before going further I think man this is complicated! I will be wanting to intergrate all the Vista packs stored on DP.net (x86 and x64 versions). So this could take a while.

If I am reading right if I make a SAD using DPbase then it will work with Windows7 rather than using the guide shown on MSDN for "Creating a DPInst Installation Package"?

Hey Jeff I did find this on the MSDN site which says that Windows7 WDK has the latest version of DPInst in it (v2.01 I think it is). They have a link to go get the WDK directly from MS so here is a link with more information on it (I am somewhat out of my depth here) ;

I have done some testing on these m8 and so far I believe it is the USB pack that is causing the problem, I integrated all the standard driverpacks and all the 3rd party ones except for the USB one and I got USB support in XP like normal. Hope this helps folks! I have no idea what the problem is with the pack

VB is not free but phpBB is and works in a very similar way to VB but not really used that as much. The conversion bit like you say is a pain in the butt just a thought though.
