Win8 installed?  Did you upgrade to Win8.1 using Microsoft Updates? Would you like to burn a DVD or create a flash drive with Win8.1? (Save time if an new installation is required.)

Here: http://betanews.com/2014/11/10/how-to-u … ash-drive/

and/or

Downloads are large: 32bit is 2.5+Gb and 64 bit is 3.3+Gb - high speed connection (100Mbps) here took about ten minutes - have fun with slower.

Can you even find a copy for sale?

A friend of mine asked the same question - a quick Google search indicated there were many options for purchasing a copy. Someone, somewhere is still enamored with XP.

[off-topic](Without having checked for the last few weeks ...)  Things are so dry in Southern California, desalination has become a seemingly overnight staple source of good clean H2O, if i have heard that correctly.  Is cheap solar gaining prominance yet as a source of the tremendous energy needed for evaporation?  Are they using the WOW process yet or "rifled" piping or other technologies to increase efficiency when consuming carbon-based fuels?  (thanks to Bill Duff for the link)[/off-topic]

Desalinization is not really on anyone's agenda.  One plant was built for $20+million (US) years ago in Santa Barbara - and closed after less than a year in operation. Now, 15+years later they are spending millions to refurbish it to try again - will have to wait and see how that goes.  Some communities are fining people for NOT watering their grass (and, thereby, keeping up appearances) - go figure. The water police are out in some places ticketing people for those watering their grass but allowing street/sidewalk runoff (which I see every day driving around my home town).

I live in the middle of the Mojave Desert so water is an issue and some folks are removing their grass and getting help from the  water district. My front/back yards are nothing but desert landscape - no wasteful water here.

Climate researchers are suggesting an "El Nino" may help somewhat this year - will have to wait and see. Last one - about 10-12 years ago - really saturated this area - major flooding.

Still have too many locals refusing to accept 'climate change' as the reason.

I would suggest you check with the author at the Ryan site I linked to above and mention the connection with DriverPacks and verify no issues would arise with any mention you make about SP4 and the fact that any user issues are not 'your' responsibility.

I stickied this topic. perhaps you can post the link to the final in your first post (edit)

Not sure of what you meant about posting the link - I did post the same link on my first posting and the one above - or am I missing something? The link I posted yesterday does say 'Final'.

SP4 Unofficial Final - http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10321

Check the items listed to make sure you download the correct items for your system.

I think the Utilities should be separated and also the drivers for devices that are genetic supported by an Operating System.

I hope you meant ... generic ... as opposed to having genetic drivers. smile

For those interested - the unofficial SP4 has reached Beta 3 status - so far, lots of testers have used it and have been impressed.

RealTek 2.75 released: Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 - nothing for XP

Another heads up (Station-Drivers):

Intel 19_1 CD released for Win7 and 8 (probably Vista too) - 18_3 still reported as last/final for XP.

The only input I can put forth at this time is that Intel 18_3 was the last that worked on XP (as far as I was able to determine) and 19_0 installed just fine in Win 7 and 8.

Thanks for the links to packs 1 and 3 - I assumed there was a 1 as I had 2 but was unaware there was a 3. I guess I'll have to 'test' #3 and see what happens here.
