This is already known.
There have been other posts before yours stating this, and would have came up if a search was done. wink

This is a false-positive. It is NOT a virus.
(FYI it was actually the 06-06-06 defs that this started)

Well, you could eliminate DOTNET being the issue by just installing 1.1 and 2.0 from SVCPACK.

Save yourself the hassel and just install DOTNET1.1 & DOTNET2.0 from SCVPACK!

well....... you could punish the abusers by sending them one of the very nifty virii that I have contained.... lets pick my favorite.... the one that, once exicuted, will fry ALL the firmware of ANY connecting device to that system...

.....can you say "Goodbye Computer & All Accesories!"

(man that is a classic)
I loved frying old x286 & x386's with that.

wink

these are what is known as "false positives".
CMDOW.EXE is NOT a virus/malware.

FYI: It usually it is recommended to scan with multiple AV programs before posting.

It really is strange knowin that i'm the only one not able to download the DriverPacks.

Not true, there was another user that had the same issue.... because he was blacklisted from the server....
See here: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=88

No... then just disable the device - it won't affect your system negatively. You cannot expect all devices to be installed if you don't slipstream all drivers... wink

Exactly, I was refering to your question that you asked. You wanted to know what the unknown devices were, so I told you... and how to make them known wink

As, Bâshrat the Sneaky said, just disable it if you use broadband... but if you ever (for some very odd reason) go back to Dialup, you WILL need to enable & install the modem driver.

See, I knew I was right wink u were blacklisted tongue

Hmm... still works here.... maybe your IP got banned?!?! I dunno, just a thought...
You will have to check with Bâshrat the Sneaky to find out, cause it works for everyone else.

Thanks, but we got that covered already wink

You need to install your Modem drivers... (PCI Simple Communication Device)
I have been contributing to a 3rd Party 'Modems' pack on MSFN.org that might help, you can download it here: http://rapidshare.de/files/17871930/Dri … .4.7z.html

....and the USB device......... Good Question... I just had something similar, but I guess it was actually a feature of the sound card... but good luck on that one.

*Sigh Of Relief*
the mysterious device has went back into its little cave... and is now gone... wink

Thanks for you help

hm... no luck with that sad
Ideas?!

I'm going to try forcing the device to use x-fi drivers.... who knows, maybe it will work.......

Hmm.... uninstalled the X-fi card, and it goes away.......
....even though the X-fi drivers are installed....... *ponders*

Nope, it's an Abit UL8

that is the funny thing. None!
