on a side note, this should work for any dell inspiron 6000 that uses the x300 cards, not just the 6000D series....i'm not sure how many Inspiron 6000 system models were made, though...i only ran into the 6000 and the 6000D.

now, the changes you are mentioning in the above post, will that affect the pack in a significant way?  should i wait to d/l for a bit?

thank you all again

Looked it over and it seems like i'm good!  nice job guys, thanx!

well, keep me posted i guess.  i haven't tried the pack yet because i just reinstalled windows on the lappy and have it running stable.  when i've gotten everything set up as perfect as i can, i'll do a ghost of the drive, install a virtualpc, and see what happens.  but, since i was installing windows on both my systems at the moment, and ran into this exact video driver issue, i figured i'd ask

that's a good solution if you only need the disc on a mobility based system....but i am hoping to get a universal disc that runs on any system i toss it at.  lucky for me, i don't run anything else ATI except the lappy.....the trick is, will i be able to integrate these modded drivers with the normal driverpack a?

Well, for the record, the ATI Radeon Mobility X300 used in the Dell Inspiron 6000D is compatible with the newest catalyst drivers ONLY if that tool is used on the catalyst set PRIOR to installing them (run the catalyst install file once, get denied, run the patcher, run the catalyst set again)

i have NO IDEA what it changes...all i know is that if i want to slipstream a driver for my video card, i have to use that tool on them first.

i don't suppose anyone wants to look into what gets changed and possibly see if it is worth adding in?  i have a feeling that all it does is add more models to the compatibility list...and if that is the case, running the tool once on the driver set prior to adding it in to the driverpack will allow us lappy users to get updated drivers also.

thanx much!

probably not....but here is a link

http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/

perhaps i should.  could you suggest terms by which you found it?  i had tried "dell" "mobility" "x300" and none came up there....that was the most generic thing i could come up with without being overly simplified.

EDIT:

found one post that mentions MODTOOL, but it does not say if the modified drivers are included in the driver pack.  i have found nothing relating to my card directly, or anything related to Dell, within the forums.  i am at a loss.  can someone simply tell me if the modified drivers are in the pack or not?

i couldn't find this in the search.

i was wondering if your driver packs included modified versions of the Catalyst drivers for Laptops using the ATI Raedeon Mobility cards.  when you get the current drivers from ATI, the install process fails, stating it couldnt find a graphics card compatible with the driver set.....however, someone created a modifier script program that alters the driver package somehow and allows the newest catalyst drivers on my Dell Inspiron 6000D.

I'm hoping to create 2 separate slipstream install discs...one for the dell (since it uses stupid SLI activation on MCE2005), and one for the rest of my non dell PCs, but both with all the possible drivers i can put on them.

On a side note, what is the likelyhood of getting a driverpack for TV Tuner Cards?

thanx for the hard work, this looks amazing
