I Have to agree with OverFlow. I buy ALL software for my clients and my MSN license.

Microsoft has fined two PC companies where I live who were selling non licensed XP/2003/Office and it cost them $100K each, they closed down.

If you modify THEIR software and post it even if it's free, they will take you to court. I urge you to rethink this.

XP etc. is not like Linux, it is not Public Domain. Microsoft OWNS XP etc.

I used to load a bunch of 3rd Party drivers and seemed to have problems. All I use now is Modem and Monitor, seem to have less problems.

Hope this helps.

p.s. There are a couple patches for XP that increase the IP stack to 100 or more (more Network users).
Nlite has a "option" to increase to 1000.

I have used this for small server requirements where the company is small and has limited funds, also requires less maintenance.

Is the Mass problem happening with older versions of Base or just with 7.12b ????

I can test with either of them if it will help.

chiners_68 wrote:

712b is not ready.
It dosent have the Proxy support ive requested in  feature requests, added yet. I need this for the update page in the base to work, along with a few other people too.

Maybe 712C may solve the Proxy support.

I personally see no problems in making 712b final as everything I have thrown at it works, SP3, HiDef Audio etc.

I agree with the previous thoughts that frequent updates that fix problems incrementally are better than more complete updates once a year.
It also gives the people who do the programming a little rest and that frequent "feel good" for their hard work.

We would all like everything in the Feature Request List programmed and tested in 3 days but as we all know, every update is a lot of work.

Used Base 7.12b and ALL the nightlies 01-12-08 and created an XP DVD with SP3 and CAB AddOns with RyanVM

If you need HWID's please let me know, but as everything works, probably no need !!!

Just dropped a XFX 8600GT 512m in there and loaded the driver, wonderful.

Another great coding project, you guys are really great.

May have an AMD AM2 PC in this afternoon for XP reload, ATI video. Will let you know

Sorry I had to post here, I don't have the option to "New Post" in the Testing section.

You probably already know but here's the link anyway:

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa … CatID=1070

Downloaded into a folder and ran the program, it downloaded everything from Microsoft and works, looks and feels like the old version.

I know this is nothing to do with the DriverPack project but a lot of users in this forum I am sure use it.

My bad:  It was XP Pro

Tried a release version of MASS and everything was OK. Sorry Jaak.

Stu

Just had a problem with the latest Packs from Nightlies.

Created a DVD and got a "HPCISSS2.sys is Missing" before the HD Format stage so no logs.

I just noticed you pulled "DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_7128", that was the one I tried.

Leave me a reply if you have a new version so I can test

Thanks for all your work.

Hope this is in the right section !!!!

OverFlow wrote:

i will release when i have that and at least one other person posts this is working

I hope someone else has had time to try it, worked on 4 PC's I had in the shop.

Thanks for the input.

As an ex Brit I agree with the theory, living in the US gives me access to bigger guns ???

Why not issue the new Base as I have used it on several machines and it work fine, this would solve all the KB888111 problems.

Redxii: Try the following

Google for "KB888111 download" and install it, run your Realtek HD or whatever afterwards and reboot, it finds everything at that point.

Good luck.

Jaak wrote:

Its also interesting to see that BigBrit tested the nightlies DriverPacks, and they worked for him.

I thought I would test everything at the same time. If something broke I would work backwards, did not need to, it all worked fine.

The only thing I always do is erase all the files in QSC when I upgrade a MassStorage file.
Maybe another modification to the Base (2008 project) to erase these files BEFORE a slipstream ????

Time for a rest, today I have to finish shopping with my wife, rather be working on my PC !!!

Before my accident I took life for granted, now I treat life, my wife and relaxation with respect. All may end at any time.

Enjoy your Christmas, it's turkey time everybody.

Amazing, many thanks OverFlow. Worked perfectly on the setup I have on the bench at the moment. Nice coding.

I will try to test some other systems over the next couple of days but I would have to say that this is a done deal.

Thanks again for the fast response, looks like the SP3 thing is fixed.

I would like to say to everyone - A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Wow, this whole thing is like a can of worms.

Overflow is correct, it's not a true "Public Release" as you have to dig down deep on the MS web site.
Although my MS rep says it has gone gold. (edit: Build 3264 fixes the minor bug)

I will use SP3 in my slipstreamed XP DVD and use the workaround I described in an earlier post, it works well and only takes an extra minute.

If I find any fix I will report back.

Getting to close to the holidays to argue.
I suggest we drop this until the New Year.

To all the programmers and the testing team who work so hard:

A very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

OverFlow wrote:

could you try useing RVM to integrate SP3 and let us know if that fixes it?

(it is under the "file" menu "SlipStream ServicePack")

It may be that Ryan VM's Integrator handles this automagicaly and may end the problem with no further action.

Sorry to say I had the same problem.
Everything seemed to go OK with RVM.

During the Windows install the same 5 files (hdaprop.dll, hdashcut.exe, hdaudbus.inf, hdaudbus.sys, hdaudio.inf, hdaudio.sys, hdaudres.dll were missing)

During the Driverpack slipstream I got the following message:

Warning:   Could not slipstream KB888111 because Service Pack 1 or 2 isn't installed !

My Microsoft rep said he had heard that 3844 has gone Gold other than 1 x very minor bug, I told him about the 2nd bug i.e. KB888111.

I will keep trying some other thing and will let you guys know.

Stu

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Using Nlite 1.4.1 I did the following (still did not work)

Slipstream SP3

Integrate KB835221

Driverpacks

Still have the same error when installing XP that 5 files are missing, all of them HDA

Found some talk on the net that Microsoft has integrated KB888111 in SP3 but it is new and not working
If you you try to install 888111 after Windows is loaded it says a later version is already loaded.
(Have to uninstall the "unknown PCI" first)
Hope they fix it in the final, I will not hold my breath. I think they will issue a separate KB to fix the problem.
Many people are saying the present SP3 (8344) has gone gold. I will ask my Microsoft rep on Monday.

Seems as if the people on the forums work 22½/7/365, Microsoft only work 9-5 Mon-Fri.

Sorry to keep running this by you guys, but I hate to have something beat me.

Stu

Well I tried the following:

Downloaded KB888111 Addon from the site I listed.

Used Nlite 1.4.1 to integrate SP3 (used in prior tests, works OK)

Nlite to integrate the KB888111 Addon

Slipstream Driverpacks.

During the install I got and error that 5 files were missing, all those files are from the 888111 Addon. It did not integrate correctly.

Will try the following in the morning:

Re-download the Addon (may have been corrupted)

Nlite SP3

Use RyanVM Integrator to integrate the Addon

Slipstream Driverpacks.

Enjoy your weekend, try a couple on pints of beer and a Scotch !!!!

I did not mean to anger or discourage anybody, I have the greatest respect and admiration for all the contributors to the code and driverpack sections.

I did give money to the cause and if you check I am/was on the Testing Team.

As with yourself, I have also been on the crap end of things and may know a little of what you are feeling.

Thanks for the comment re: accident. I had a serious back injury and broken bones and have just got the feeling back in my arms and hands, nice Christmas present, took 6 months and I had to learn to walk again.
It's nice to be able to type and use a mouse again.

I for one would like to say, thank you for the work you and all the others do.

Thanks for your input, I knew Bâshrat the Sneaky was busy, his posts reflect that.

Thanks for the info on the Addon, found it at,

http://red.caek.org/addons/Universal_Au … dOn_1.0.7z

I know that maintaining a system like this is incredibly hard work and I would like to thank all of you for doing it.

I will test the above Addon and will report back with the results. Maybe a post in the News section to help others !!!

Thanks for your help

My apologies. I didn't realize that Bâshrat the Sneaky had handed it over to you or just dropped it into your lap.
I have been off the forum for some time after a serious car accident (not my fault).

Please do not feel offended or angry, quite simply, I did not know.
I will try and help anyway I can with this SP3 thing.

Believe me, everybody is grateful for all work put into this project and I commend you for taking on a almost thankless task.

Anyway, this is what I have so far:

KB888111 must work with SP3 as I have been able to run it after a full SP3 slipstream with Driverpacks installed.

The Realtek sound driver loads just fine afterwards and I assume that other Hi-Def sound cards will as well.

Can you create a version of the Base that loads KB888111 even if it does NOT find SP1, SP2. (remove the KB888111 ver. check)
During a Driverpack integration, a warning comes up and says that SP1 or SP2 is not installed so KB888111 will NOT be slipstreamed.

I can test very easily at the moment as I have a PC on the bench that has Realtek Hi-Def.

rajeshkumar wrote:

i added the 888111 addon from the link above to nlite after slipstreaming SP3 and then applyed driverpacks. During DP integration, it just said 888111 cannot be slipstreamed and i clicked "ok". it finished the rest of the tasks. uA installation just went fine.

I have a feeling that if the Base is modified so the version check includes SP3, it should work.
It should only involve 3 or 4 lines of code and minimal testing ( I will happily test)

We need Bâshrat the Sneaky to do this as he maintains the Base.

OverFlow wrote:

I thought i read that sp3 included the hda fix?

If it is, it does not work with anything I am doing. Maybe it's me, but it's not working.

Until MS makes a SP3 version of KB888111, you will need to install it before you apply SP3. If you slipstream SP3 into XP it does not seem to work.

The file for SP2 should work fine but it does a version check. So someone would have to hack the SP2 KB888111 to remove the version check section.
Yes I know, only fully certified KB's are allowed.

Since SP3 is not yet final MS won't make a new KB888111 until SP3 ships, not sure why they did not build KB888111 into SP3.

I will try KB835221 which is an earlier version of the HDA drivers as a slipstream over the weekend.

Workaround is:

Extract the files from KB888111 and find US (2 x files), download Realtek HiDef Zip and unzip to the HD. In Device Manager "uninstall" the Yellow Device, run the US "install", it will then ask for a file location, point it to the Realtek folder. If it does not ask for a file location just run the "Setup" file in the Realtek folder.

I put the whole thing on a flash drive.

Hope this helps.

Make sure it's a BIG gun, from what I am reading nothing else is being added to SP3, only minor bug fixes.

This KB888111 thing will be a real issue next month when SP3 is released.

The only option is to delete the yellow asterisk in Device Manager and run KB888111 and when it asks for the Realtek driver, point it to the right correct folder.

Bâshrat the Sneaky, any chance of modifying the Base.
